No one has said QM proves anything that I know of. But many, including scientists, have said its principles are similar to spiritual principles. And that is correct.
There is no need to prove spirituality exists. 90% of the entire world believes in spirituality. I know it exists, I have been there, and so have millions of others.
I and millions of others have died, and come back to life. We know will we live after death, what is sad is the 10% who believe life will end, that it has no meaning or purpose. That is what is sad.
Just because I believe this is the only life I will ever have, absolutely ***does not ***mean it has no meaning or purpose. In fact, it’s the opposite; life if precious because it’s so short.
I believe your explanation will work pretty good, unless and untill, something that seems to you to be really bad, happens to intersect your life. At that point things seem to fall apart unless the meaning and purpose of life are anchored in some bigger picture than what we call life here in the physical.
I have not had a life review as such, but those that do go through some painful experiences of how they treated others badly. The next thing is if you haven’t grown spiritually you will be with others who haven’t grown spiritually either.
The good thing is this is not for long. The review is over rather quickly and you can “grow” into more comfortable levels if you want to practice.
But the main thing is you will be surrounded by love all the time, cherished and helped to understand what is going on as good parents help their children. Near death experiencers having seen the afterlife show a great deal of desire to do better and to grow spiritually. The rewards are very great.
You didn’t die. You got near death (Actually you didn’t even do that, you had a bad dream and went delusional). Dead people are dead. They start to putrefy. If someone get’s close to death they aren’t dead, they are really fucking sick.
And you’re the one with the ideology that paints life as worthless. Some time in the past, billions of years ago a first generation star went supernova and created the heavy elements necessary for life. That inert senseless matter accreted into our solar system and now some very small portion of that matter attains consciousness.
Inert matter having consciousness is a more glorious gift than your bullshit god or childish wish-it-were-true beliefs. Consciousness should be embraced for however long we have it. You’re wasting your real life preparing for your imaginary one. It’s sad.
No thanks, I know enough batshit insane people for me to start reading their blogs.
So there real is no down side to my skepticism. Either I will go out like a candle, which is what I expect, or I will be pleasantly surprised when I am surrounded by love. Pessimists are never disappointed.
Excuse me . . . kid . . . I’m probably a lot older than you, and believe me some “really bad” things have already happened in my life. In fact I’ve faced death several times, and my atheism and lack of faith are unshaken.
The great thing about being atheists is that there really is no wager - all proposed dieties are either 1) assholes who don’t deserve anyone’s support, or 2) won’t treat you badly just because you failed to act on knowledge you didn’t have that was never even presented coherently. So really, there’s no way to lose!
I am 72 in September, how old are you? I have also faced death a few times and died once. Even though I was an agnostic on a Navy vessel facing a hurricane with 60-70 foot waves, I prayed like a preacher. So did everyone else. When it was over I was agnostic again. I thought atheism was a faith, no one can disprove the existence of God.
Atheism isn’t a faith. There is no evidence for god and so no reason to believe in him. You say there is evidence, but it’s just a bunch of self-deluded people like yourself that really, really, really want it to be so.
Not believing in something isn’t a faith. If you actually thought about it you’d realize that.
There is a lot of evidence for God, it’s everywhere you look. If you call yourself an atheist, and you believe you are an atheist then there is faith in atheism. Kind of like when you make no decision that is a decision. Maybe not understandable to you yet.
The downside is the exact same downside you have for not being an avid lego collector - you are not benefitting from an entertaining hobby to fill your time and give your life direction and purpose.
It’s nothing more than that.
You’d learn even more if you read more carefully. As an atheist, I don’t believe in any dieties - however, I acknowledge that I may be caught by surprise. Not by the kind of spirits and god you describe, which is contraindicated by evidence, but we might some of us find ourselves in afterlives of some kind (possibly by external simulation of our brains elsewhere). And if there is an afterlife of some kind, there are numerous possibilities regarding what diety or dieties, if any, might be present. Not that I believe in any of them - but I’m capable of entertaining theories about what might happen in the vanishingly unlikely chance that I’m caught by surprise.
The great thing about not being locked in one mindset is that you can entertain other notions on a theoretical basis and consider the implications. You should try it sometime.
Are you a vampire atheist? Are you atheistic about unicorns? Is it an overt act of faith to assume that you don’t have a time machine or particle beam canon? Is it an overt act of faith to assume you aren’t a shape-changing robot from space?
There is zero evidence for god. There is only, stupid, gullible, damaged and eminently fallible humans who say that they saw proof. Goofballs writing on the intarweb isn’t evidence. Your pathetic self-delusion about having a near death experience isn’t evidence of anything but of how utterly easy to deceive you are.
So, to sum up. No evidence for god. No reason to believe in god. You are making stupid claims.
