I’m not claiming he didn’t say it. And if he did, it was a very poor choice of words (not uncommon for Uncle Joe). If he said it in public, on the record, then I’d say it was really bad, and he should apologize.
I do wish that reporters would at least name on-the-record sources for this type of thing, however.
Geezus, the Republicans are the ones who said we will not raise the debt ceiling and we will put the US into unnecessary default and all the horrible consequences that will happen, unless X, Y, and Z happen. The Democrats made no such demands, ergo, the Democrats are not extorting the whole country for the political needs. The fact that the Dems didn’t roll over and say, “Yes you get X.Y, and Z” does not make them the equivalent of the Republicans in this nonsense
But our country will default due to their political posturing!

I was watching a feed with no sound and just assumed they were applauding themselves. I was wrong.
So which way did Giffords vote? That was pretty amazing, no matter what.
I think in many real ways despite the deal damage has been done. I personally get the feeling that the USA’s international standing as well as it’s perceived financial stabilty has been damaged by the fairly extreme faction in the oppostion party has managed to make the threat of default very real and managed to get the US government to bend to it’s demands.
