The relatives, last year: “Enough with this ‘Happy Holidays’ nonsense! Jesus is the reason for the season! It’s ‘Merry CHRISTmas’! Saying ‘Happy Holidays’ oppresses Christians!”
The relatives, this year: “We just got a shipment of Holiday Blend at our new coffee shop! Stop by and pick up a few bags to share with your friends and family this season!”
Can your spouse deal with this for you, if you’re in 24/7 pain? I have had no problem picking up my husband’s schedule prescriptions, since it’s hard for him to drive or even leave the house, but we’re with Kaiser and things may be streamlined a bit since it’s all in-house. I usually bring his ID along with mine, and his Kaiser card, and never have an issue.
And yes, it sucks when they’re out of a med he needs, though usually they can give me a few days worth to tide him over. You’d think they’d know how this “chronic pain” and “potential withdrawal issues” thing works.
Are you in California? Apparently the rules are different for different states; OTOH I thought Kaiser was only in CA. No, the husband can’t do it for me - he used to be able to drop it off and then I could pick it up, saving me one trip but now with the have to show ID thing he won’t even be able to do that. I wonder if the ID thing is just CVS?
Rant and you shall recieve…
Last month I bitched about the local paper resurrecting Classic Peanuts for their Sunday comics section, and this weekend they dumped it and brought back “Rose is Rose”
Enough good news. Now a mini-rant…
Hey spammers, how the fuck did you get my email address? About 2 years ago, I got a cheap-ass Tracfone running Android. I created a new gmail account for the sole purpose of setting up the phone and downloading a few apps from the Play Store. Never used it for anything else. I don’t log into Chrome or Google or Google+ or Google Maps or YouTube, don’t use it for mail. It’s not linked to any other account. Nothing.
Over Thanksgiving, I upgraded my phone to a good one, and used the same gmail address so I could redownload my apps. Suddenly gmail opens up and there is a shitload (several months worth) of spam in there. How? Is Google selling their own addresses to marketers? Did some app sell the address? Good thing I don’t actually use the account for anything.
It gets better. I call CVS to find out if they got their Norco in, to be told “oh we don’t say that over the phone, it’s CVS policy”. After MANY threats I finally get someone who keeps telling me that he won’t do this again (I won’t be there again after this refill, don’t worry about it) and they do have the Norco in.
Gonna check out Walgreens and see what bullshit rules they have.
Apparently, there were “multiple reports” and I was “stalking”, but I’d guess the other people hadn’t seen his latest thread. I just hope the poor cat doesn’t eventually pay the price in the middle of that human clusterfuck.
Mini-rant … I slept in an odd position last night, I guess. My neck is stiff, and the ouchies go all the way from my hairline down the left side of my back almost to my damned waist. Already too a long hot shower hoping to soak the muscles into relaxing and it isn’t working. I really don’t want to have to do any muscle relaxers and screw up my normal med schedule. sigh
Hubby has had a bad cold since Monday night. He came home sick after half a day today, took a nap, and the older dog didn’t want to wake up with him. Hubby called me at work and I said I’d come home and take the dog to the vet. By the time I was downstairs and in my car, hubby called to say he was taking him himself- didn’t want to wait. 5 minutes later, in the car, before they even got to the dr., our poor doggie was gone, and my miserable, sniffly, sore husband had to stand alone in the exam room with him half an hour, waiting for me to get there to say goodbye.
I only hope the little guy wasn’t in pain.
BUT, the “customer service” at Empire Today never once called me back. Not to update me on status of where my flooring had gone, not to reschedule the installation, not to confirm the installation - nothing. Every time, I had to call their national customer service, who’d say “Hm, that’s odd” and eventually transfer me to the local office where they’d talk and promise, but never follow through on confirmations.
Fortunately, once it got turned over to the contractor for installation, they were efficient and professional. Ripped everything out the first day, moved furnature, prepped the rooms. Next day they brought over a half-dozen guys and banged through just about every room. Today there was only one guy finishing the last room.
Looks beautiful. But there’s dust everywhere, OMG the dust. And all the clothes and 30 boxes of books are still in the basement, needing to be moved back. It’s gonna be a late nite for me…
I am FURIOUS with my building management right now. We were informed last week that fumigation is happening in the near future. This requires emptying cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, plus finding somewhere else to take our pets for four hours. We were given a time frame ca. 12/12-13. I arranged to take Monday off work to evacuate pets at necessary time, with DH planning to take Tuesday.
We came home from respective jobs about 7pm to a notice giving a definite date for the fumigation.
Tomorrow. December 8. We do not have anywhere near the boxes or space to remove everything from our cabinets and still have the whole apartment accessible as commanded.
Oh, shoot, I’m so sorry. It doesn’t sound like he was in much pain. It seems about as close as he could get to slipping away in his sleep. Honestly, it doesn’t sound like a bad way to go, at all. What a shock for you and your husband, though. Hugs.
Yes, we’re in California, and we go to a Kaiser facility that has everything in one place, hospital, doctor’s offices, and pharmacy. That may make a difference. I do have to show ID, but there’s never been a problem with me picking it up for him.
My rant is about delivery companies. I ordered something online in late November. On the 29th, I arrived home and there was a ‘Sorry we missed you’ card. So far, so good.
The card had instructions for me to go to their website and choose an alternative delivery point (in this case a local newsagent). I did so, and was told it would be there the next business day.
It has still not been delivered (7 business days later).
I have called them, I have emailed them, I have asked the sender to call them. Each time they apologise, say they will look into it and get back to me very soon.
Aaargh! It’s not even something I urgently need, its the growing sense that they have somehow lost the package and don’t want to fess up.
I hate the first snow of the year. It ratchets up the driver-stoopid that gets revved up to near full speed at the start of each and every school year. This morning, driving to work on ice-covered roads at 50 mph, (first local significant snowfall yesterday) had some moron tailgating so close behind me I couldn’t see the headlights of the car in my mirrors. If it weren’t for obligations I have, oooohhhhh the temptation was there to hit the brakes…
