The Disappearing Thread

I’ve seen plenty of closed threads before, but I’ve never noticed one that actually disappeared and didn’t show up on a search – until today.

What became of the thread with the “true” but out-of-context quotations about going to war with Iraqi?

It may have been in GD, but I’m not certain.

I’m not protesting – just curious.

It seems a lot of them are started by socks and trolls.

Lots of threads get deleted. The mods and admins are just so quick on their headfeet that you never see them in the first place.

I was wondering where that went myself. I wasn’t aware that there was such rampant thread deleting. It seemed to me that threads might be locked, but not simply disappear like that one did.

A troll started that thread, and several others. I removed all the threads that he started. I also removed a lot of his posts, though I had to leave quite a few of them in threads because people had replied to him, and it would have taken a great deal of editing to remove the references to him.

EVERY TIME you discover a missing thread, this is the cause. It’s not a software glitch. I’m thinking of making this a sticky in ATMB.

…an angel gets its wings.

No, no, no, that’s:

. . . a troll gets its pitchfork.

So we were ALL trolling during the winter of our missed content?

Why delete that thread though it had actually turned into a decent debate about the Iraq war that remained civil, a rarity in these parts?

Heh. I think I know which troll Lynn is referring to. And I had so wanted to see where my very first pitting of a user would lead to! :disappointed: Oh well. Guess one of you will have to come along and really rub me the wrong way so I can try again!

Lynn, you could have fooled me about the troll. I just thought he was dumb.

Or a sock.

I guess that’s what a good troll looks like.

Oh well. It’s Chinatown.

I can never find certain threads through the searches. Like “hell house rant” for instance (I tried looking it up once about two months after it slid off the front page). I can find it through looking at my own history though.

So is this just my poor searching skills?
