I was just reading about the utter disaster that was the great American Food & Music fest at Shoreline in the Bay Area. Yikes.
Short version: they didn’t set a ticket limit and 15,000 people showed up. The fancy new electronic wristband system failed. No effective crowd control. They didn’t increase the number of booths from about a dozen, so they kept running out of food resulting in something like five hour waits in line before you could eat a single thing. At a Foodie event. All for $35 per person, which included nothing extra AFAICT.
To rub salt in the wound, Ed Levine made a half-assed apology blog post that greatly understated how terrible it was and didn’t even mention anything about a refund, which people had to track down on their own. It did not go over well. Read post and comments here.
I was wondering if any Dopers attended and could shed some light? I can’t imagine a worse place to have a bad experience than Shoreline, which I never liked all that much as a venue.
