The Doctor Is Out (Doctor Who, That Is)

He was always only going to do the one series. Russell Davies sees the regeneration element as integral to the story (and of course it’s the one thing that guarantees the “franchise” can never get stuck over a barrel by it’s star).

Most likely next Doctor is this fellah (currently starring as Casanova, and jolly good he is too):

Re Regenerations

Unfortunately, the BBC took down the encyclopedia section of the Doctor Who site a while ago. Along with articles on Temporal Grace, The Doctor’s Doctorate, and more was an article on how many regenerations the Doctor is known to have based on canon sources. The answer IIRC, was about 40. I don’t have a problem with this since we know that the Master has gotten more than his fair share. Not only has the Doctor been present for some of these and been bathed by the same strange radiation, the Doctor is also smarter than the Master. If the Master could figure out a way to get extra regenerations, it makes sense that the Doctor could.

Re The Next Doctor

Once again, I nominate myself. “Hmm, I appear to be younger this time around and- oh no. Oh no! I’ve come back as a Yank!”

Izzard was interviewed by Jonathon Ross on TV the other night. He is not going to do Dr Who. And believe me, Ross went on at him about it for long enough.

Izzard says he never showed any interest in having the role, it was all down to Tom Baker carelessly putting his name forward, and he isn’t even particularly a fan.

And he isn’t going to do it.

What’s Alexei Sayle doing these days? He was quite keen on it back in the '80s. Of course, he was a Marxist back in the 80’s too, so a lot may have changed.

The above would be a great title for a thread discussing the fact that David Tennant’s decission to play the Doctor, except that this one is already here. It relates to the fact that “His favourite band is The Proclaimers”, according to http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/news/drwho/2005/04/18/18639.shtml

Yup, it’s finalized. I don’t think he looks half bad. Rose will stay on.

Also: “Doctor Who is Out…” If you saw the last episode - he very nearly was!
