How do you explain putting the name of a working, covert CIA agents name in the paper as something other than traitorous? It put every body who she worked with under suspicion. It destroyed her cover of the company she worked for. Then foreign agents would just check out every body who worked for that front. They would check anybody else who met with her to see if they were double agents. It was a horrible thing to do. How much money and trouble was wasted tryng to fix what Novak did will never come out, but it was a bad thing to do for political reasons.
1.It was a valid comparison, thus not a hijack.
2. The OP nowhere mentioned Novak.

Yeah, it was a bad thing to do. But I have a pretty high standard when it comes to treason.
I would guess that Bob Novak loved this country as much as anyone, likely more than I do. I don’t think he knew or expected his actions to be to the detriment of the country.
That doesn’t excuse him as a human being or a journalist. I think both of those things were shown to be lacking. But treason? That’s a high bar and I don’t think he went over it.
