The Easton Press

Does anybody else buy these books? I got a mailing from them one time and began purchasing Page Smith’s People’s History of the United States and fell in love with them. Wonderful bindings, beautiful artwork … books that make you feel like you’re reading a BOOK! A little pricey, but I think I can afford one luxury in these my declining years.

I think the Tolkein series may be next. Or … they’ve just come out with a three-volume edition of Alexander Dumas’ Musketeers books. I can’t decide.

God, those books are beautiful, aren’t they? I had a subscription to the Easton Press scifi/fantasy series for awhile. I had to bow out early due to financial difficulty, but I do have about a dozen scifi/fantasy classics, beautifully bound in leather, with gold trim and inlaid illustrations. To die for!

Of course, the crown jewel of the collection is my copy of “Blood Music” which I actually got signed by Greg Bear.

I have 20 or so of the “100 Greatest Books” series. I’ve put my subscription on hold until I move. Yeah, they’re a little expensive, but they’re wonderful.

I picked up Easton Press’ The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings editions. Having a real book made them that much more enjoyable.

Now if only they’d come out with The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series…
