The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim post-release thread

Obviously they just need to sell loot upgrades via a Zynga Facebook app.

What?

For Oblivion, Oscuro’s Overhaul had some great unique items, including some weapons that were about the coolest looking weapons I have ever seen in any game. The mod really took care not to make them overpowered. I’m hoping s/he is hard at work creating a mod for Skyrim as we speak.

Date: 3am, Turd Ass, Dawn’s Crack
Location: Brown-water Hole, near Bloodied Box…

Have come across evidence of Fist activity. Not pretty. Villagers are nervous. Disappointing lack of rimming action so far, despite the area name. Will continue the search…

Wow tradeskills generally give you a best in slot enchant or upgrade of some sort. IOW tradeskills generally provide a slight to moderate improvement to an existing peice of equipment. So you need them to min max but crafted items themselves do not provide anywhere near Best in Slot items.

This has probably been previously asked and answered, but does anyone know the status on DLCs for the game? Also, when is Steams mod connector going into effect?

Does anyone know of a way on the PC version to increase one thing and decrease another: 1) How often it goes into the third-person kill animation and 2) how can one slow down the kill animation scenes by a few percentage points?

I know I can manually go to third person view and I’ll test it out soon to see if that makes the kill animations stay in third person or not.

And I’d like to more easily get good screen caps, thus the slower kill animations.

Ideas?

Kobal2 posted this link to a bunch of Skyrim screenshots. The guy talks some about what he was tweaking to get those shots. You might find something useful there.

I’m pretty sure it is going to be horse armor.

No, I kid. What poking around I have done on the web has only said that it will be substantial and that it will NOT be horse armor. There is speculation that it might include a part of Hammerfell. I would bet money that DLC is delayed as they try to fix the PS3 issues.

No Kill Moves: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33

I can’t find any way to do the slow-down.

Thank you.

duality: Sorry for being unclear, but I want the finishing moves more often, not to turn them off.

But I’ve found the console command, for reference: set killmoverandom to <0-100>

The second part of the Skyrim analysis is up:

Sound quality needs work still, but is much improved, if I do say so myself.

Doh. I don’t know why I read that as wanting fewer kill moves now that I look back at it. Somehow I was thinking you wanted fewer kill moves, but slower when they do happen.

Anyway, if you don’t want to mess with console commands, the Glorious Combat mod will do the same for you, though it also messes with the decapitation chance.

Yeah, here’s a story saying it will be “meaty” and not some little thing. Also, Microsoft apparently paid them enough money that they were willing to annoy the rest of their fanbase; the first two DLCs will be released 30 days ahead of other platforms for the XBox. So for us PC users, that means well more than a month before we get any at a minimum. And it’ll be hard to avoid any spoilers.

I was on the fence about the rebellion for a long time - to Level 45, in fact - until I heard that Ulfric was planning to attack Whiterun. The Stormcloaks may have some good points, but Whiterun is my home, and I will fight anyone who tries to harm it, no matter how just their cause.

After the game went gold, the studio gave the employees a couple of weeks to just play around with the editor to see what they could come up with. The best of those efforts were shown at a company-wide meeting… and holy cow, they came up with some amazing stuff. I can’t go into any details- 'cause, you know, proprietary info and such- but if any of that stuff makes it into the DLC, it will *definitely *be worth picking up.

I am quite saddened, though, to hear that the 360 will have an exclusive for a full month- I’m so freakin’ tired of that sort of crap, because it only hurts the players. Hopefully we’ll get the toolkit soon, and start seeing all sorts of stuff that 360-users can only dream of.

I don’t know - I’m pretty sure that an additional month of beta testing only benefits patient users.

As far as choosing sides in the civil war goes, all my characters except two have gone Imperial. The first one to go Stormcloak is a female Nord whose character concept is basically a berserker loony. “Skyrim for the Nords”, killriptear, etc.

The other is an Argonian, my first character Hunts-In-Silence. He’s quite aware of the bigoted tendencies of the Stormcloaks and how them winning will ultimately probably lead to disaster for Skyrim & Empire alike- in fact, he’s counting on it. In his view, supporting the Stormcloaks has a number of positives:

  • It helps him get revenge on the Imperials who tried to execute him; both by killing them in Skyrim and by weakening the Empire itself.

  • It leads the Nords who mistreat Argonians and who threaten to make him into “a fine pair of boots” on a regular basis into long term disaster when they have to face the Aldmeri Dominion alone.

  • When the Empire, Skyrim, and the Aldmeri Dominion have exhausted themselves fighting among each other, that will be the time for Black Marsh to go forth and crush those filthy mammals into submission once and for all, Mwahahahaha! We’ll see how they like being made into boots!

Pretty sure the Imperials want to invade it too. Just sayin’.

I went to Wildhelm and overheard Ulfric talking about invading Whiterun; then I went to Solitude and overheard Colonel Tigh talking about sending troops to help defend it. Whatever comes after that, I’ll just have to see.

As for the Battle of Whiterun: The Imperials do not invade Whiterun. Only with permission from the Jarl do they garrison troops there, and the Imperials die alongside the Whiterun guards as you engage in what is one of the coolest pair of set piece battles in an RPG. Definitely much cooler than that battle in Oblivion where you and a bunch of other folks line up in an open field and duke it out with Daedra being gated in
