Yeah, I’m not rushing in. Give it till next summer sale, pick it up for $15, and by then it’ll be patched and modded into a much better game anyway.
I’m trying to gauge how high my expectations for Skyrim should be. After those lovely screenshots, they’re at “a good step forward, but probably not revolutionary”.
I’m probably going to get it in November, but I expect the game to be buggy for a few months afterward, and so should everyone else. Virtually every game is these days (though as I recall, Shogun 2 mostly defied this expectation). I intend to keep my complaints to a minimum.
Heck, I still can’t get the Oblivion movie to play right. And that’s on two graphics cards, two computers, and two different manufacturers.
A couple more character shots:
A male Redguard
Another Dunmer.
A horned Argonian male.
A female Redguard.
An aged Orc male in a mineshaft.
These shots were all taken from a limited demo session, meaning that those who played with these characters rushed their creation to get into the game proper. With a bit of time I bet you can make characters that look many times better.
Looks like they definitely and for all time fixed the Bloomfrenzy problem and the freakish falsity of facial features.
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans, Bethesda have released all the racial presets for character creation. Scars, tattoos, face-paint, weird eyes and more facial hair and hairstyles than you can shake a staff at. More customisation is always a good thing.
Altmer aka High Elves.
Argonians.
Bosmer aka Wood Elves.
Bretons.
Dunmer aka Wood Elves.
Imperials.
Khajiit.
Nords.
Orcs.
Redguards.
You can find edited 3 part videos of the Pax demo with Bethesda’s head honcho narrating here:

Can not wait to lose myself int his world. It looks amazing.
Here’s a recording of a play-through of the first 20 minutes or so of Skyrim (on the 360) if anyone’s curious and hadn’t seen it already.
I convinced the head of our studio (we’re part of Bethesda) to give us a “Skyrim Day”. We’re going to get advance copies of the game- hopefully this week- and the entire studio is going to have an entire day of doing nothing but playing Skyrim. Can’t wait!
… If you get me a job, I will offer you my firstborn son. And a bottle of good scotch.

Maybe you should explain your veiws first…bandit :D…
Can I personally claim this as Skyrim Month? I don’t think that’s going too far, do you? ![]()
I have nothing of any substance to add, other than to say - less than ten days to go, woo! Pre-ordered my copy, I hope they do a pre-download.
Some videos to tide us over a week and a bit (the longest week ever!):
Ice and Dragons - showing the ice breath shout and hardcore dragon-on-dragon action.
The Concept Art of Skyrim - showing a few new shots and locations. Check out the Dwemer centurion.
Skyrim Live Action Trailer - where are the elves and beast races? You humans are all racist!

I nearly posted to say “Oh my god, the quality of this CGI is amazing!” but then realised it was actually live. :o
Between this and BF3, I am DESPARATE to build a new computer (Built back in January '07; It’s finally showing its age). Of course, with a wedding coming up that we are paying for and several K this year on fixing cars, it ain’t gonna happen anytime soon.
Of course, now is the time that one of my hard drives decides to die (Raid0, so I’m still OK, but my machine is limping along right now).
I’m hoping to actually BEAT Oblivion before I start Skyrim, as I got side-tracked by guild quests, and spent something like 70 hours playing and only getting halfway into the storyline.
I should probably get an upgrade too. Can you run it.com says I can run the minimum but not the recommended as my processor is a bit out of date. My PC is two years old but apart from the processor being outdated it’s actually a decent spec.
I was tempering my enthusiasm, but now that someone paid for a pre-order for me I’m a lot more excited. Also hearing two reviewers talk about a 3-hour play session they had and their very different and cool experiences was great.
Linky?
I watched it on my Roku player, but I found it online.
Dumb question, but if you pre-order from Amazon, does that mean you won’t get it until it arrives 2 days after it’s release date?
