The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Depends what delivery option you pick. Amazon every now and again actually delivers games early; on my pre-order on Amazon it dispatches on the 10th. With expedited delivery I’m hoping it’ll be here by the release date.

That’s what it looks like on a decent PC…heh.

Speaking of which, minimum specs were released about a week ago:

6GB free HDD space
DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
DirectX compatible sound card
Internet access for Steam activation

Minimum Specs:
Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
2GB System RAM
6GB free HDD Space
Direct X 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM

According to one of the devs on Twitter; “The Min specs get you playing, The recommended specs let you play on High, not on Ultra. You’ll want beefier rig for that”

GTA IV from Amazon got to me the day before release date. YMMV. And MMMV.

I think they try to ship so the package arrives on the release date. It’s just that UPS was quicker than they expected I guess.

Thanks, I kind of want the map that comes with the pre order, but I also want to spend the long weekend playing the game.

What socket is your motherboard? (Or, if you don’t know that, what is the CPU? Sometimes you can get a little more juice out of a mobo with a better processor).

I’m unfortunately stuck on a much older model, with no-where to go CPU wise otherwise I could have a new rig right now.

ETA : Send me a PM if you want, I don’t want to hijack.

Are there videos out there of the game playing on a min to reccomended spec system? I’d like to see what I’ll be missing.

I just pre-ordered it with the option to get it delivered the same day as release. We also just refinished our basement into a man cave, I mean a family room, with a bar and a fridge. Now, we just have to wait.

Yeah - it’s called the console version.

Seriously guys, this is barely an improvement over Oblivion.

If you’ve got a rig that is from 2007, you’ll be playing it fine at console settings (720p, low).

Anything above that is sweet gravy.

I’ve checked the manufacturers specs and the best I can install on my current motherboard is a Pentium quad core. Whilst it’s better than nothing that’s still on the “outdated” list. If I want to get a current gen processor I need a new motherboard, which is outside my capabilities of installing.

Wow, how did I not find out about this until now? And I spent this month’s gaming money on Sim City 4.

How much like Oblivion is this going to be? I hope they do away with that horrible leveling system.

Installing a mobo is fairly easy. But in case you really don’t want to do it, I’m sure a mom and pop PC repair shop will get you started for cheap.

People have said the leveling system is closer to Fallout than oblivion.

Still, there will be mods

Some more on the levelling here.

In Fallout 3 you could eventually become a god, but go to Old Olney out of the Vault and you would get your face peeled off by Deathclaws.

Yes, I believe they called it a 360,…hmmmm, I shall have to get more info on this mysterious device they call a console.

(a bad attempt at humor…)

It’ll be good for the economy

I just want to say one word to you. Just one word. Mods!

That’s ok. A month from now, it will be better on PC because of the inevitable patches and mods.

Is that what you’ll be playing it on? If not, patches are still likely on the consoles.

If you’ll play it on PC, check the system requirements and your own specs. I got my computer early this year and I’m only a bit above the recommended requirements.

Not only will it be better in a month on the PC, in six months it will be an entirely different game with all the mods.
Also, in about 3 weeks, it will have boobies, because that’s usually a high priority for the “community.”

3 weeks? It took modders about 3 hours to upload the first adult mods for Fallout New Vegas.

I know, I know, I’ve gotten into this argument online and offline many times, I do not wish to start it again, but I have two words for you sir…comfychair:smiley:

I’ve got three words actually for me…three day weekend. I even admitted to my students today that “next weekend will be extremely unproductive.”

Can’t we compromise? You hook up your computer to the big tv and the comfy chair and the controller.

We stop teasing you.

C’mon :), you left yourself wide open, you hook your console up to the monitor and the desk and the uncomfortable chair, then we’ll call it even :D. Good comeback though, I must admit you got me, however, seeing as how that isn’t a possibility due to my unique situation, and my stubborn support of consoles, it isn’t gonna’ happen, so please, tease away, I can take it ;), and I can tease back, remember, I have the computer rig that’s the envy of all, don’t make me quote myself again  (you can just look back at my previous specs in this thread anyway).
