Ah, but this is valuable for me, when playing a game such as Halo Reach I can instantly spot who the little kids are. The flaming helmets for example, though it’s an offer Bungie made later on after release, who else would care or want something on their head that makes them look dorky and also an easier target? I just thought it was a personal favor that the devs were doing for us…and for that I thank them…

I haven’t played the Daggerfalls games since, well, Daggerfalls. I seem to recall that you could purchase your own home in the game (it might have been a mod, but I THINK it was part of the game). Does anyone know if that will be in this game? I’m thinking about stuff like the various houses and such in Fallout 3/NV…or mods like a private vault or vault of your own. Also, I seem to recall that you could get a mount in Daggerfalls…again, anyone know if that’s going to be possible in this game as well? And, if so, will you be able to fight from the mounts back? And will there be mounts other than horses (again, assuming mounts will be in game)?

I assume you mean “Elder Scrolls games”; Daggerfall is just one game.
And I note that the Skyrim Wiki on the front pageindirectly mentions that you can get a home.
Also from the Wiki, you can get horses but not fight from them unfortunately; just like Oblivion.
Noooooooo! Take it back, someone remove this link, I don’t want to believe it’s true! I won’t believe it, not until I have the game to prove it one way or the other…lalalalala…I can’t hear you…lalalala :D. Well, that is an unofficial site, so I don’t have to believe it officially, though I was afraid beyond fear that this was the case. Bad Bethesda, bad, I didn’t think I’d say it, but you’ve earned my ire, which I’m sure will fade once I get to explore Skyrim, I’ll most likely foget all about it…
Hell, even if I don’t get to fight from horse back, it still sounds pretty cool. And having a house means that someone will mod the game to give me a stronghold or keep of my own as well, which is good.
Plus…dragons. That will be the icing in the cake! Like I said, I just hope my reflexes are up for this. I have cat like reflexes…if the cat is about 80 (cat years) old, arthritic and blind in one eye with a bit of a palsy in the good left paw…

Don’t worry, the handling will be consolized.
Being unable to fight from horseback is fine, as long as they fix that aggro problem from Oblivion. Enemies that wouldn’t attack me (due to a shrine reward and/or high charisma) would still attack my horse.
The funny thing is that I have more faith in the mod scene making this a great game than I have in Bethesda. Which isn’t to say I don’t love Bethesda or their games, it’s just that their mod scene defines the word nuts.
If I start playing the game when it comes out (I strongly doubt I will be able to stop myself), can I download mods and install them in the middle of a game without messing up my game? It’s be too bad to play 40 hours and then have to do it again because a mod screwed it up.
Most mods should be fine. I added many mods as I played Morrowind with no problems. I played Oblivion on the 360, so I didn’t get any mods for it. I tried to make my own mod once, a house for my character. I never finished it.
I’m bummed that I can’t afford to get Skyrim right now. I may have to wait for Birthmas.
With the Fallout games what I generally do is save the game off at a completely un-modded place, then apply a mod at a time, go into the game, play a bit to see how stable it is, save again, then rinse and repeat. Some mods work well, some crash the system, and some completely unbalance the game, but if you save off before applying each mod you can always go back to a previous saved version and it will be fine.
I assume this game will be similar since it’s the same company that wrote Fallout 3…and that works very well with mods. I also assume that, since it’s the same company, we can expect DLC adventures to come out fairly often for the first year or so. There were several really good DLCs for Fallout 3, and just tons and tons of mods to do just about everything you can think of. If someone out there is a modder and planning to do some mods for this game and is looking for suggestions, think about putting something like VATS in for us old foggies.

Dragon armor!
It’s a new engine, so who knows if they’ll even bother to make mod support as good as it is. It wouldn’t be the first time developers have shut out a community making their game massively better for free.
Whether it’ll affect you past a save depend on the mod. Something that adds zones or items or spells or enhances the graphics won’t matter if you’ve already got an existing character, but others like something that changes the whole levelling system probably would.
Devs have confirmed that Skyrim’s equivalent of TES Construction Set/GECK will be available for modder perusal, so after a bit of familiarisation we can expect the usual glut of the good, bad and ugly.
Dragon armour already exists in the game though (you can even craft it yourself with the right Smithing perk), so no need to mod that in.
2 months ago I got approval for a week I’d asked for off in November. I couldn’t remember why and almost canceled, then I thought, nah, a week off’ll be nice. Only now I’m figuring out why I requested it off way back in April- when I pre-ordered Skyrim. Good thinking, past self! And luckily it comes out a few days before Saints Row, when my husband will take over the 360. Good thinking, Bethesda!
I have a nice place for the fancy map on the wall next to my face. Now to stock up on frozen pizza and 2 liters!
I nearly did that with the day off that I’d booked for exactly the same reason. Annoyingly I’e arranged to be seeing a fuck buddy in the day and then going to stay over with a friend that evening too, chipping into my Skyrim time
Eh, the weekened is free so should be fine.
That jerk (said with all due respect :)), why wouldn’t he be equally as interested in TES as you are? I’ve played Saints Row myself, and it’s not that it’s a bad game, just a bad imitation of GTA. However, SR and GTA combined can’t hold a candle to TES, and not only that, I’d make damn sure that if my SO was even slightly interested in gaming, whatever game they wanted to play would be my new favorite instantly (despite the lack of multiplayer, hell, I’ll sit and watch all day :)).
Correction, it’s a version of GTA that is actually fun to play.
Skyrim!
I was going to post something more meaningful but I think that adequately portrays my current feelings.
Or maybe:
