The press is solidly against Trump, to an extent unseen since 1964 since then. Papers who have never endorsed a Democrat are endorsing Hillary, and papers who always endorse Republicans are sitting it out this year.
I’m sensing something more than this, a sense from moderate press, Republican or Democrat, that treating Trump as just another candidate could lead to a disaster. Someone here mentioned the lack of bad news on Clinton in the past week. Is this just lack of bad news, or the press not treating each negative equally across the candidates? The NY Times is calling out Trumps lies as lies on the front page.
This is just a feeling. Anyone else have it too?
The press is just starting to do their job. For the whole cycle, we’ve been treated to nonsense like Trump calling a rabbit a chicken and the press responding with “The debate over the animal continues…” instead of just saying “That’s a rabbit”.
Even after the VP debate, one of the major papers (NYT or WaPo) ran an article about it saying that Pence “fibbed” in his responses to Trump’s statements – No, he outright lied, multiple times, about what Trump (and himself) has said.
The media shouldn’t feel obligated to give “equal treatment” to two people when one is spewing bullshit 24/7.
That has to be a joke.
Andy Borowitz, bless his pea-pickin’ heart. So, yeah.
Yeah, Andy Borowitz’s column is satire.
Really? I thought Andy Borowitz was particularly serious , what with other headlines from him like:
Christie Calls Trump Genius for Plan to Burn Down White House and Collect Insurance
Gary Johnson Says His Favorite Foreign Leader Is Obi-Wan Kenobi
CNN Launches Manhunt After Lester Holt Vanishes from Debate
To be fair, Trump is an extraordinary asshole.
It may be a joke but it’s scary close to the truth.
