When a candidate/party/political movement is utterly unfalsifiable...

…by those who have pledged alleigance to same?

That’s the thing that struck me most about this election, and still continues to amaze me-literally nothing Trump did or said ever soured his base on him. At worst he would lose 3-5 points in the polls (then soon bounce right back). I thought for sure when the crotch grabbing tapes came out that the bottom would have fallen out-but again he only lost a little ground (and obviously regained it by the time the election took place).

[Yes, I’ve already read all of the surface explanations for this in many threads and on other websites, no need to belabor the point…]

Which makes me wonder just what he would have to do to truly alienate his base and see his support collapse. Expand this to apply to his party and overall political philosophy/platform too if you wish.

Is this a good thing for our democracy?

Appoint liberal SCOTUS justices, halve military spending, support abortion, ignore the Rust Belt, publicly abandon the Mexican wall and deportations, oppose religious freedom, endorse the ACA, etc…

Trump supporters weren’t voting for him because they wanted a paragon of virtue in the White House. They wanted someone who would deliver the results they sought. His backtracking on campaign promises threatens to destroy his support in a way no womanizing scandal could.
