The Exciting Game With One Rule

Both parts violate the rule as they are missing a necessary word.
Your post above does not violate the rule, nor does this one.

Must the sentence contain “no” within?

That’s very close, but not correct. Your post is in violation, this one is not.

Must the sentence contain an “a” within? N/m
Must the sentence contain “in” within?

Must the sentence contain “he” within?

No, it is not a specific word, but rather a type of word. Your post violates the rule, but this one does not.

Have I won yet?

Well, your question does not violate the rule.

Are we determining a type of preposition?

No, it can be any part of speech. You are not violating the rule.

NOW have I won?

Looks like you have, EH. Congrats!

To clarify: the rule is/was that a post must have at least one word of three or more letters containing an anadrome (also called an antigram or semordnilap), which is a word that, spelled backwards, produces a different word than going forward. EH’s Now/won was the giveaway there. Others include not/ton, may/yam or sleep/peels. Only one word was needed to satisfy the rule. Congrats again to EH.

That was a tough one, Prof. Pepperwinkle, and congratulations are definitely in order to Elendil’s Heir who didn’t waste much posting space getting to that rule. Nice work, EH!

Since EH may have just been “passing through” long enough to guess the right rule, it may fall on you Prof. Pepperwinkle to determine the next Rule Maker. If the thread sits idle longer than today (Friday) would you select the nexr owner of the thread?

Meanwhile, what are some suggestions to how the next round might go? Since brujaja may be on a break herself, we may need to decide how to proceed.

Right now, in my opinion, the torch is still in your hands, Prof. Pepperwinkle.

That was very tough, indeed. I’m not near a computer on weekends, but have thought of a fun rule for a future weekday.

Great! Let’s hear your idea if you can explain it without giving away what you’ll actually do if you win the Rule Maker job. Nice work in this latest round, by the way. I thought you were zooming in on it. FWIW, I had no clue!

Zeldar, Thanks, although the phrase “zooming in on it” gives me, and probably others, a chuckle! My rule is defined by a recognizable phrase.

Please explain the “chuckle.” I must be in the dark about that one.

We could go a long way by exposing cliches and pet expression that have lost all traces of their original meanings. What’s even more fun is when they’re abused or misused by those with no clue as to what meaning they have even now.

Case in point: an old buddy of mine, meaning to say something was “kosher” used the concept of “cultured” in place of the more ethnic one, and in my opinion he had only heard “kosher” in some distant context.

I think we must have some threads on that very topic. If not, we need one!

Zeldar, The chuckle arose from my questions reflecting more “groping blindly in the dark”, rather than “zooming in” on the answer.

Ah, yes! That’s the way my zooming was working, too. Thanks. I thought I had missed a trick in my trying to stay current on slang and such. I didn’t think to check Urban Dictionary first. That place is growing like a weed.
