Will it revert to its extreme leftist attitude? This is what I fear and expect in such an environment.
Which brings me to the necessity of stating that when all is said and done, the left and its liberal stance destroyed society as we know it. Which society was based, mostly, on a natural human view of the surrounding world and its phenomena, skewed as it might have been by the inherent subjectivity of the human psyche.
Will we witness again, to the greatest dismay, the Left-Fascist wild, post-modernist screams of profiling vs law-enforcement, of peace now, disaster after, of the Thelematic directive of do as you will, it being the whole of the law, this including in-your-face same-sex marriage and their child-adoption, of the collaborative stance w any and all fascist anti-American ideologies, radical Islam only one of them, but not to forget Chavez and A-jad, all the while so conveniently forgetting that w all its wrongs America brought prosperity as never conceived to billions and brought down evil three times in the last century - WWI, WWII and Communism?
Will this be a recurrence of the Liberal Fascism, as Jonah Goldberg unfolds in his recent, extraordinarily revealing and enlightening book, a living witnessing vindication of this phenomenon?
I dread thinking about the ideological cesspool that I predict will ensue.
Will there be counter-members/posters to voice sanity and straightforwardness in an otherwise expected extreme leftist environment? An environment that will make a mockery of free speech and loftier human thoughts vs advancing the empty bubble-based childish, adolescent, raw-impression teen-age stemming stances?
I sure hope not! Everyone knows that the country has only gotten on the right track since the conservatives have been in control of everything during the last 7 years. F’in liberals will ruin everything if they get their hands on it.
But when it comes to the SDMB, brother, don’t you know that it’s already been a liberal cesspool? Just ask any of the conservatives who have held the fort (for some reason, most of the others deserted the ship, leaving only a few brave souls to fend off the liberal Santa Anas). They’ll explain how bad it’s been. Opening up free posting should help to bring back right-minded people like you who are smart with their money and smarter in their thinking, like you’ve demonstrated!

If there’s an “attitude” on this board, it leans more to libertarian than liberal.
As for “empty bubble-based childish, adolescent, raw-impression teen-age stemming stances,” that generally dies down when the adolescents are in school. You might want to avoid the board during the summer and winter breaks.
You know, there’s over the top rhetoric and poisoning the well, and then there’s this. This OP is so far removed both from my own knowledge of this place and from reasoned rhetoric that I don’t even know where to start.
Revert? I haven’t seen any growing trend toward conservatism here. If anything I think the board has gotten more liberal in recent years, and I think the return to free posting could bring some different viewpoints.

Again, I think if you had an actual argument, you had space to make it. Instead, you went for this rant, which doesn’t have any connection to reality. We’ve got some very smart libertarians and conservatives here, and if they’re a minority, they can still hold their own. I don’t know what board you’ve been watching over the last few years, but it doesn’t sound like this one.

I have been here since 2000 and I am hardly leftist or economically liberal. Many others who have been here just as long as well as newer members are the same. You don’t need to worry about mob mentality here as long as you look at it the right way. The odds could be stacked up 100 to 1 against you in terms of a certain viewpoint yet a shining, well thought out post, would gain everyones attention no matter their orientation.
I agree that these boards are more libertarian than anything else. We don’t tolerate extreme religious or social conservatism but strongly liberal economic ideas don’t stand much of a chance and neither do communist or strong socialist philosophies.
