Coolest thing about Facebook being down? This thread on the Dope came up as number 8 in the search results on Google.
They know we know stuff.

I think that is modified by your search and surfing patterns and not universal. But, I’m not sure.
I’m back in FB
FB is back on.
I assume that is true if you log into Google so it knows who you are, but I generally refuse to log in. Possibly that makes targeted results less likely?
I was unable to log in for 15 minutes, then it came back. I think civilization will survive.
That’s a relief. I’ve been trying for an hour to get a code back from them so I could log back in. If it’s them, I can relax and let them fix it.
It doesn’t need a login to store cookies.
Mine just came back.
Darn. The longer it’s out, the more minutes between my parents receiving far-right-wing messages. I’m sure they’re breathing a sigh of relief now – it must have been rough on them.
I wish the outage had lasted a lot longer. The world could use the break.
Well, that’s disappointing.
I dunno… I’ve wondered, if not just Meta but also Xwitter and TikTok went offline for a half day all at the same time, the cities would be burning.
My issues explained. Thanks for the thread.
Has anybody heard from @Marley23 in a while? Is he working for Meta now?
I was able to enter my password just now, which is an improvement over this morning. But I seem to have been switched to two factor authentication, and Meta is not texting the code to my phone. I guess I’ll have to wait for my right wing memes ![]()
I tried to log back on to the FB app and also didn’t receive a text message. But I looked on the Android Firefox version and (apparently since I didn’t try to access it from there during The Crisis of 2024) I was still logged in and there was a message telling me that an unknown device was attempting to log in, is it me. I confirmed that it was and then the FB app was allowed to log in without the SMS.
(I have to use the app now because this browser problem was never resolved.)
So the text message that was supposed to have been sent when I tried to sign in around 1:45 PM just now arrived at 3:21 PM.
Amen. In a perfect world ‘x’ would have gone with it. And NEVER. COME. BACK.
