The fan-wanking round-robin thread

What are those blue cubes and green things they eat on ST TOS?

Because that would make them the Mark of the Beast and that’s a different sci-fi series.

Whoops. That was for post 50. I’m tired.

Subspace carrier waves are deleterious to living tissue, but only over long periods and only if the source of the transmission is within half a centimeter. Thus communicators aren’t dangerous, but permanent transponders within living flesh would be. The effect tends to be cumulative, which is why landing party personnel don 't have them put in for every mission, either, but only use them on occasions when it’s clear they are likely to need them.

Why can Wonder Woman take punches from Kryptonians and Daxamites and walk away, but yet has to defend herself from bullets with her bracelets?

I think this wins the prize for Best Fanwank Ever. It actually makes sense!

As for Wonder Woman, she must have some Colonial blood. Punching doesn’t faze her. Bullets? That’s a different story.

Is that an intentionally dirty joke?

Sulu was an aficionado of ancient aircraft and had spent many long hours in the 24th-century equivalent of Flight Simulator for the Huey. He spent most of his part of that mission simply finding the helicopter he knew how to fly.

So who actually killed the Witch-King, Eowyn or Merry?

The pun was unintended. :smack:

Merry crippled him such that he was vulnerable, and might even have mortally wounded him, but Eowyn finished him off before nature (or un-nature, or whatever governs undead) would have had its chance to work its course. So Eowyn gets credit for the frag, and Merry gets an assist. And to head off the related question, Meriadoc was “no man” in more sense than one: Not only is he debateably not human, but he’s also not quite an adult, by Hobbit standards, at that point. And a “man” is an adult male human.

My question: The guy Eddie Kim bought the snakes from was in the L. A. area, and many of the snakes themselves were contraband. So how did he get them all to Hawaii on such short notice?
