It goes back to a feud that involved different sea creatures - for mollusk, every player typed “conch” - so that’s now what we call an answer that is all but assured to be given by every player
Once upon a time, in the beginning of [del]time[/del] The Feud, there was a Question. The Question was, “Name a type of shell.”
The most popular answer was “conch.” It wasn’t quite a complete match of 50, but it was close.
Thereafter, an answer that has an inordinate amount of matches is called a “conch.”
ETA: **anyrose **beat me to it!
Huh, and here I was thinking it was short for “CONsensus CHoice”.
Ooh, we have our very first Feud Backronym!
Huh…and I thought it was some sort of Lord Of The Flies reference.
I thought it was a typo for ‘cinch’ - on querty, the i and the o are right side by each. Sorta like when the kids say ‘teh’…
