I guess I thought Bonds would be fresh in people’s minds due to his ongoing trial. That and my love for concession stand pretzels killed me.
I will now say that I don’t think Rickey was actually all that fast; he was fast, but mainly he had ungodly timing and an amazing ability to read the pitcher’s move.
Pshaw,it was a good one! Conchy answers are ok.
Amazed that i was the only Mel Allen for announcer(although I nearly switched to Harry Carey) and only 5 said Brooks Robinson for defense,he was called “the human vacuum cleaner” for ozzie’s sake.
My first answer was Brooks Robinson, but upon consideration I figured he was too “old-timey” and put the more modern answer instead.
Of course, this rationale ended up killing me when I put Bonds instead of Ruth.
I have now finished 50th and 49th in consecutive Feuds. How’s that for consistency?
That was my thinking on my answer, as well, though I thought, when I put the questions together, that we’d get more votes than we did for Brooks (as well as Bonds or Hank Aaron for HR hitter, and maybe Trevor Hoffman or Rollie Fingers for relief pitcher).
It could have been worse; I was considering Roger Maris for the home run question. He is, after all, known primarily (exclusively) for his homer-hitting.
Admittedly it couldn’t have been much worse.
The bottom is best, right?
Sigh.
