This is the final round of the Great Sitcom Battle, Female Characters edition. Rankings are based on input gathered in another thread. Vote for your favorite of the two characters remaining. The poll will close near midnight Thursday, March 26.
Picked Morticia Addams because first she’s a cool character, and second because I never actually watched The Mary Tyler Moore Show and so have no opinion on it.
Ditto. (I think I’ve only watched The Addams Family two or three times, but I’m at least familiar with the setting and the characters.)
Mary Tyler Moore was basically the straight (wo)man on both shows. So it will be interesting if the winner of a sitcom poll is someone who wasn’t particularly funny.
But the show was all about Mary. It was her sit, and everyone else was just supporting com. Morticia was a great character (and, of course, got lead billing,) but she was just one part of a group of great characters.
As for Mary not being particularly funny, go back and rewatch the episode “Chuckles Bites the Dust.”

I gotta say, these finalists don’t impress me at all. I can’t cast a vote because I don’t think I’ve ever seen MTM and I dont think I’ve seen the Addams Family in 30 years. And even then, Morticia wasn’t even my favorite female on the show.
I strongly disagree. After you tune in on “Chuckles Bites the Dust” on the MTM show, give “Coast-to-Coast Bigmouth” a view on the DVD show.
There are numerous other examples, but these two will do for now.

:Looking forward to it. I came up with my five (subject to change). Two of them I expect will go far. The other 3 may be be only on my list, with one longshot.
I am really struggling to limit my male characters to 5 - that fifth slot, whichever way I turn, is going to break my heart in two.
