Damn. I thought the Colts had that one. Hoped I guess was more like it.
Overtime it is for Cleveland. Anderson going 27/46 and the Smack Man ringing up a rousing, resounding 37 yards does not speak well for Cleveland’s run blocking. It’s a good thing that Seattle can’t run the ball either.
I think the Steelers (Dec. 9) are now the main hurdle New England faces. No doubt the Pats will be favored at home, but I think they will find Pittsburgh very tough. If I were a '72 Dolphin, this is the game for which I’d be sure to have the champagne chilled.
Naturally I will be talking up the Steelers leading up to that game, but for now let me say that the Patsies are ungodly good. They screwed up time after time and still managed to beat the Colts. That’s just plain scary, and only an idiot would take anything that I say leading up to that game as anything but smack-talking because I think there is a good chance that the Steelers are going to get tattooed. That will be my last pessimistic comment about that.
Are you joking? There was once a year when Bettis had 5 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns through 3 games. Touchdowns don’t tell the story. Yardage does-64 yards is pathetic. Adrian Peterson had almost 5 times that by himself today.
Yeah, I already said the running game was pretty bad. I just said it wasn’t horrendous, given 4 goal line TDs. I think that’s a pretty reasonable statement.
But you, as far as I can tell without watching the game, declared the Browns’ offensive line responsible for trailing early. The main reason was that DA was playing poorly in the first half, the running game mostly sucked all game (O-line takes some blame here, along with Jamal, and receivers were making drops on big plays.
You guys are just going to ridiculous lengths to try to criticize me now. The Browns could put up 105 points, and lose to a team that put up 110, and say “see, they lost. Their o-line sucks”.
“Making fun of” is more biting and usually more funny if there’s some sort of substance to it.
[Steeler Fan Base before season]: The Browns will be pathetic as usual, they’ll be lucky to win 5 games this year, and their offense might average 12 points a game.
Me: Actually, the offensive line has been improved dramatically which has been historically putrid. The new offensive coordinator is light years ahead of the old guys, and our talented pass catchers will be futher developed. The offense will be surprising this year.
9 weeks later, the Browns are a top-4 scoring offense with a 5-3 record.
[Steeler fan base]: See what? Nothing’s happened. You suck just like I predicted.
'Nuff said. Hold on to your team’s O-line, hold it dear. The Steelers will be around with more substance shortly. You know, the same substance that they delivered in Week 1?
I was cheering for the Colts today, mostly because I can’t stand Belichek, and I loved watching Addai turn it on and Brady get picked on the throw that would have set his personal no-INT record. Unfortunately, games go four whole quarters in this league. Brady, Manning, and Addai played some fantastic football today, no matter who won.
As for Monday night, well… I’ll cheer for the Ravens tomorrow night as usual, but oh my Lord are we going in weak. I’m hoping for a win to offset the fact that later in the season we have to face the Colts and Pats back to back on the road… oh well, at least I can count on your support when we face New England, right?
Speaking of the Ravens-Steelers game, who is the favorite going in? I went looking for the “line” and found a bunch of sites listing the Ravens at “plus nine” but I don’t know enough about betting to know whether that means they’re nine-point favorites or nine-point underdogs. I do know that it means the market has decided this will be a nine-point game… but has the line taken into account the Ravens’ lack of a corner?
Wow. 3 turnovers 21-0 and I’m up way past my bedtime. I really need to go to sleep, but now that I’ve watched this much I’m going to have trouble nodding off.
It’s nice that Murderin’ Ray and Suggs can get totally pumped after stopping a wraparound handoff from Charlie Batch to Najeh Davenport after having giving up 38 points to the Steelers before the end of the third quarter. Woo, baby!
What a complete ass kicking. As Mel Blount said, it’s pathetic and embarrasing to watch men play professional football like the Ravens have played it tonight.
Wow…what a dismantling. That was fun to watch. Boy has Ben been good this year…just hope that hip was a bruise and he’ll be OK to play against the Brownies next week.
And James Harrison…what an incredible performance.
Ravens had 104 yards of total offense…a team historic low. Wow.
