The first winning presidential candidate you voted for

I’ve been voting since 1968, and Clinton’s been the only winner.

(except for Gore, who **won the election **of 2000.

I had 3 wins in a row (Bush I, Clinton, Clinton) then 2 losses in a row (Gore, Kerry). Hope that doesn’t turn into 3 straight, also.

Jimmy Carter, baby! After that, it was a bit of a dry spell, well 12 years.

Nixon 72.

Clinton '96.

It’s kinda like winning a championship as a rookie–you think it’s that easy every time… I know better now!

I get to vote next year. Looks like I may have a good chance of joining this thread…

Clinton in '92. And again in '96.

Voted for Mondale in '84 and Dukakis in '88. Would have voted for Anderson in 1980 if I’d been two years older.

Clinton '92

Haven’t picked a winner yet.

Dole in '96 (I was brainwashed by my Clinton-hating father at the time, which I greatly regret now.)
Gore in '00
Kerry in '04

Carter in 1976. It was my second presidential election, having voted for McGovern in 1972.

I voted for the winner in 1992 and 1996; the loser in 1980, 1984, 1988, 2000, and 2004.

None yet. I voted Gore and Kerry in '00 and '04.
I await my next failure with bated breath.

Lyndon Johnson – 1964 – The first time I voted. I guess you could say I got a “hole” in one. :dubious:

My voting record is the same as the OP’s, but add Eldridge Cleaver in 1968. So Clinton was my first winner too.

:stuck_out_tongue: I LOST in that one! Won with Tricky Dick in '68 though.

I’m 27, so I’ve never voted for a winner. Do you have any idea how depressing that is?

This mirrors my voting record.

Carter remains the only candidate I ever voted for in a primary who went on tho win the nomination.

G. H. W. Bush

I’m with those who have only been able to vote in the last two presidential elections, and have thus far voted for candidates who did not become president. (Avoiding the question of who “won.”) At least the candidates in question carried my state, though those electoral college votes weren’t enough.

Same here, except that I was 21. I was 10 months too young for the 1988 elections.

Uh, Ford lost in '76. :dubious: Had I been a couple of years older I would have voted for Carter in '76.

My first win (and only republican vote) was with Bush in '88. He was a much better president than his son.
