<snort> Imagine what it’s like to be me, in this state, knowing voting in the national elections is kind of like peeing in the ocean.
Count the Democratic Presidents since 1972 - I voted for them.
My first election, Bush '88.
Then it got bad - I voted for Bush in '92 and Dole in '96 and lost both
Then it got worse - I voted for Bush2 in '00 and '04 and won both
Goodness, I’ve voted for a Bush in 4 out of the last 5 elections. I’m not proud of that.

Carter in '76
Four presidential elections and I’m still batting .000
Can I pick 'em or what?
1992, Clinton.
The first presidential election I was eligible to vote in was 1988.
Somewhere I still have my “Don’t Blame Me, I Voted For Bill and Opus” tee. I really need to dig that out.
Err… yes, everything I’ve read supports that claim. It was the 1st election I voted in and my candidate didn’t win until the 2nd. Perhaps I could have phrased it better.
Never happened. The first presidential election I was old enough to vote in was in '00 and I voted for Gore. In '04, I voted for Kerry. Now that I’m used to losing, I think I’ll try voting for really crazy candidates with absolutely no chance of winning, like from the Socialist Libertarian Party or something. I’d hate to see the Democrats getting all the fun of my vote of doom.
My first was Nixon in 1968. I still thought I was a Republican at the time because my parents were and I hadn’t really thought about it. By the time I realized that Nixon actually was a crook I had already thrown my vote away.
The only winner I ever voted for that I actually liked was Carter in '76. But by 1980, as good a man as I thought Carter was, I also thought he was ineffective, and I was pissed about the Panama canal, so I ended up voting for Reagan. Damn! I haven’t gotten one right yet!
Same here. I was eighteen.
