The Flash Season 4

Last time we saw the Waverider, Leo Snart from Earth-X was still aboard, doing puppet therapy.

Did a new episode actually air tonight? The episode guide says there’s supposed to be, but apparently CTV aired Don’t Run again…

No, any listing that said tonight’s episode was new was in error. The Flash is on a two-week hiatus, ostensibly because of the Winter Olympics. Episode 14, Subject 9, will air on February 27, 2018.

Ah, that’s a relief…

The AVclub review of this episode (Team Flash gets played like a fiddle as the dour DeVoe saga continues) has a great line: " The next step is to take Izzy back to STAR Labs so Barry can reveal his secret identity. When I think about the fact that Barry refused to identify himself as the Flash to keep himself out of prison, I can only imagine that was because his plan was to introduce himself to everyone in Central City one by one."

I think Barry should’ve suited up and had the initial meet with Izzy as the Flash. Going in his civvies won’t impress anybody.

The show is failing to entertain me lately but thankfully Legends has stepped it up lately.

The plot line so far is really stupid as is DeVoe.

So was that actress a country star? She was talented (and very pretty).

Does not appear to be a country star. Funny, I thought her looks were nothing special by Flash standards. But to each their own. I liked the Chipmunk better. Sugar Lyn Beard is just very cute to me.

so, the girl who wounded defoe on first encounter without a fiddle in her hand, defeated stretch with a whistle - cant even think of a way to to do ‘something’ when the barrier went up? during the monologue she couldn’t think to do something? I’m guessing just screaming would have been sufficient.

Or are we to assume that Devoe was in her brain stopping her?

Because otherwise - that made absolutely no sense and was very disappointing.

All they had to do was have one shot of her screaming and Devoe stopping her somehow.

exactly.

I’m glad that the captain addressed the fact that a fake Devoe wasn’t that strange for Central City. Of course, they big question would be, “Then who was the dead body we found in Barry’s apartment?”

Didn’t season 1 feature a metahuman who could assume the form of anyone s/he touched?

Mrs. Devoe: “Are you sure all this body-switching hasn’t affected your cognitive abilities?”
The audience: “Well, SOMETHING must have!”

Nice to see an episode of the Flash that featured superspeed again. (I have not missed a villainous speedster at all, though.) And FlashTime should make it clear that Barry can always go fast enough to stop the villain.

It’s actually kind of smack-you-in-the-face-with-it that he got there so late, with his dad in mortal peril, given that he made it back to the lab and back to the scene of the crime and back to the lab and back to the scene of the crime in that one instant.

It was an awesome episode. It would have made a great comic book story. And it was a welcome break from the DaVoe story arc. Always good to see John Wesley Shipp return as Jay Garrick.

When Jesse said the bomb had “3 million tons of energy”, I immediately thought of this Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal comic:

They couldn’t get through the episode without some bad science, of course. After saying that the bomb had “3 million tons of energy”, Jesse clarified by saying this was “three megatons.” That made sense. She was measuring its warhead yield in its TNT equivalent, like the nuclear weapon people do.

BUT THEN, both she and Barry Allen (who should know better) said that this was equal to “three billion joules.”

If 3,000,000 tons of TNT only produces 3 billion joules, that means a pound of TNT only produces half a joule. If TNT were that wimpy, we’d be using it to light matches, not blow people up.
