Shouldn’t have posted so soon. Found out a bit more about them. They’re a comedy duo, and no, they weren’t serious about this (nor are they attempting to build publicity).
Okay, so this brand of oddball humor isn’t for everyone, but I honestly can’t find any beef about them. They’ve found something they love and are going at it full gusto. If you’re a fan, great, if not, the “back” button’s right there. At any rate, there are far, far worse things a couple brothers can do with their lives than bring a few laughs into this bleak, dreary world, so as far as I’m concerned, more power to them.
Oh yeah, saw the video. I laughed. And I’m the guy who doesn’t find anything funny. The raw brazenness, the shameless dancing, the intentionally cheesy lyrics…they just worked for me. And they really are good singers, unlike Rebecca Black (hey, I can tell, all right?).
Definitely will take the time to see their other videos. This is going to be a fun vacation!
Labrador Deceiver - Hey, you have something better, let’s see it.
As for parodies…personally, I’m not a fan of mocking something that’s a mockery to begin with. If you did it because you found the original work irritating, a new version is just going to compound the irritation. If you liked the original work and are making a tribute, well, it’s not going to come across as one. If you’re just trying to be funny, your pale imitation is never going to measure up to the original. In any case, parodying simply misses the mark.
