The Games People Play - First MMP of 2008!

The first thing that pops into my mind with that question is, “why isn’t it degrading to men?” But I’m known to be a devil’s advocate.

This weekend I start looking over my comps paper. I will email it to my director on Sunday. So it shall be.

GT, how was your nap?

snowbunny, I know disability can be scary, TVMan’s having some issues with his right now. So good on you for taking care of it!
Wow. That was quite a nap that I had. I guess I was tired because I had a phone right next to my head and I never heard it ring at all.

I made a special trip to my shop today to pick up all my bills and stuff that needs to be paid. Except I forgot to bring my checkbook. :smack:

Yes, and hooray for me! I made to Curves three times this week!

Weekend canceled. :frowning:

doggio, you’re getting more cryptic all the time. Are you trying to be mysterious?

Hi Roo!

Hi CP!

You’re up late again. Can’t sleep?

I’m off to drink some tea and then hit the hay. But I’ll be back to check in before I do. If you’re already asleep, I hope you’re sleeping well. ~waving~

Hi everyone. I’m late; not even the night crew is here.

Work was…well…work. I got through it. This crapola I have is just not going away.

I got home today to find my mother and a friend of my daughter’s here. My mother didn’t stay long, thank goodness. We ended up taking the kids and my daughter’s friend out to a Greek place for dinner and then came back here. Daughter’s friend hung out here until fairly late.

Tomorrow, she’s meeting other friends to hang out with them. Her social life has certainly ramped up. I need to drop her off to meet said friends, try and get my son’s haircut, clean up the house before my Dad comes over, and then pick up my daughter.

Still no baby…yeesh. My pool date/time is coming up. TNC needs to cooperate and arrive.

Smooches all. I think I’m just going to cruise the Dope for a short bit and then hit the sack.

Yeah, where is the night crew?

Apparently, we’re it. My nap lasted from about 8:30-4 (thanks for asking, CP). I’ve been trying to go back to sleep, but apparently, that’s not happening. So I’m up. Need to wrap presents for niece and nephew as we’re celebrating Christmas later today.

Forgot to say: yay for your contract AND your plan, mmmmmmmmms! I know what it feels like to have people worrying about stuff like that. We’re in the midst of installing software as an add-on to an existing package. We wrote a very detailed RFP (request for proposals, in case this acronym isn’t familiar to the reader…) for this software and I’ve had a plan since before we wrote said RFP. After we awarded the contract, one of the managers upstream from me set up a meeting so that we could plan how we would implement the software. Said manager should pay more attention.

Still no baby???

Back after a bit.

GT

Howdy all. Night shift checking in!

I had a sleep-in this morning (my one sleep-in for the week), so to make the most of it, I sat up late last night (till 11:40pm!) watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and drinking red wine (a whole 4 glasses!). I was a lazy layabout and didn’t get out of bed until 10:30am! Woohoo!

Still no tnc? I think it’s time for a hot bath and that bottle of gin, LiLi!

Howdy again!

FCM, it’s still cold here! I think Nooner is holding on to the warmth!!! But I think we have something else of yours you can take back - Dubya!!! Yeppers, the good ole POTUS (and his [del]cronies[/del]entourage and about 130 journalists) is visiting our little archipelago today (until tomorrow) and is scheduled to land in about now. We only live about 2 minutes drive from the airport, so the area is crawling with security forces and we are being buzzed every 30 seconds by low-flying helicopters! Sigh!!!

Unfortunately, we have been experiencing a little “civil unrest” in the last few weeks anyway, so George’s visit will likely add fuel to the fire, ahead of next weekend’s Ashoora events (the 9th and 10th of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic year). Ashoora is traditionally a very divisive occasion. Sunni muslims use the time to reflect or some such, while Shi’a muslims commemorate the “slaughter” of their Imam Hussein by their Sunni brethren at the Battle of Karbala by indulging in a little self-flagellation. See this Wiki article for more info. So we may get some more “peaceful” demonstrations (aka [insert molotov cocktails and stone-throwing here]) over the coming week.

Up - it’s a bit brisk here, Dotty, so I’ll have to agree that **Nooner ** is the bottleneck. Typical man - messing with things he shouldn’t touch.

As for Dubya - you guys can keep him. He’s just being a pain in the… no wait, if he’s gone, Cheney will crawl out of the shadows and do his evil in the daylight. <sigh> Guess you can send him back after all.

I had some good sleep along with some weird dreams. My cat turned from an Abyssinian to a long-haird black cat who could talk. She got out into the yard (of the house where I grew up, of course) and she was asking me if she was outside. There was a ferret in the yard, too. Guess that toasted almond last night was a tad strong.

But I’m up and in a couple of hours, we’ll be heading up to Mom’s to do some chores for her and attend at least part of my sister’s anniversary party. Since it goes till 7 and we’re over 2 hours away, I’m pretty sure we’re not sticking it out till the end. I’m thinking 5 would be a good time to split.

The big discussion now is which car we’ll take. That’ll determine what stuff we’ll take. **FCD ** wants to show off his new toy, which means our cargo will be limited. Doesn’t matter much to me either way, except I’ve never driven his car, so if we take that, I don’t know if I’ll drive at all. I’m not sure I want my first foray behind the wheel to be on the interstate around Baltimore…

Happy Saturday, all!

I’m awake although I’m not sure why. I was up until about 2:30 paying bills. Now I’m starving and prospects for breakfast are fairly bleak.

Meaning I have to work on my day off.

It’s a slow morning around here. Or maybe it just seems that way since I went to bed at 2:30 and got up at 7 and it’s Saturday. It’s 9:30 now and just about time for a nap.

I assume doggio’s work called him in, so he gets long hours and no fun this weekend. :frowning:
Yawn. Argh. I think maybe the midwife called this morning. Mr. Lissar sat up and stared at the phone (he’s closer) while I said, “Pick it up, pick it up!” He did, just as soon as it rang three times. Which puts the voicemail on. So I’m waiting to see if whoever it is will phone back. No message.

No baby yet, despite pep talks about the importance of punctuality and how nice life will be outside. Time for tea.

I’ve been keeping tabs on you, Lissla. My two boys were both born on Saturdays, so I had high hopes for you today.

Tell this kid that if he continues in this desultory way, that he’ll end up on the dole or whatever Canadians have for slackers. Tell him it’s not hip to be stubborn, unless you’re brilliant as well, (like um, me, for one example), and since he is not able to talk or walk just yet, he is dependent on the kindness of strangers. Or something like that. And start walking, girl! Or having sex (although–well, never mind. You’re young and I don’t want to scar you for life).

I am up and need to go foraging for MORE food for these people I live with. Have I shared recently how much I hate going to the grocery store? I know, you can’t believe it, but tis true.

Still watching season 3 of House and still loving it. It has its weaknesses, but it sure is fun. The Husband is going to see a man about a $85,000 experimental boat. Pray for me. 1. We don’t have $85,000 and 2. that’s all I need–to get in the settlement half a stoopit James Bond boat. Where’s the liquor?

Good morning. I went back to sleep after I checked in earlier. Because I could. I have no plans this weekend other than to keep tabs on my Family Feud game. I have no life.

Nope, not here… last night and tonight were cooooollllld! I think it went down to 35 ('merkin) overnight, and should have been below freezing in Jerusalem (I don’t know, 'cos **SpecialTeen **is home for the weekend)

Well, we had him here, too, and we didn’t keep him – so why are you accusing me of keeping the heat, huh?

All and everybody else – hi, bye, boo, yay, where’s TNC?
