The girl can bust a cap

Doper babe Mauvaise was interested in learning gun safety so we met this morning at Phoenix Rod & Gun club so I could give her a little safety instruction and practice with one of my pistols. She did remarkably well and I won’t even qualify that with “for a beginner.” It didn’t take long for her to start drilling the centers out of the targets with my Browning Buckmark pistol. She thought the red dot sight was cheating a little but I believe in walking before running. The most telling thing was that coach Pat never once came over to correct her technique as usually does.

Man…I haven’t been to a shooting range in years. Maybe I should change that. (Hey…maybe that can be done as some kind of group activity at a smaller dopefest?)

Thank you Padeye, I had a blast (heh, pardon the pun)! So much so, I’m going back tomorrow. Yes, I do think the red dot sight made hitting a center target much easier, but I’ll think of it like training wheels on a bike

Monster, come to Phoenix – we can organise a wee dopefest for you at the range!

Now I’m off to go bowling!

Anybody else reminded of Lara Croft?

Looks like fun! No outdoor ranges in the immediate vicinity here (well, there’s the South Central range – it has a drive-through  ), but I’ve recently been to the indoor range near work. Fun!

Yeah, Mauvaise, you do look like Lara Croft in that photo!

Yeah, and in that one photo you’re already expressing a wider range of emotions than Angelina Jolie did in an entire movie!

Johnny: There’s A Place To Shoot about an hour outside of LA or so (In the desert).

No, really. It’s A Place To Shoot. It’s decent.

I can personally vouch that Mauvaise is equally at-home on an indoor range. She had some nice groupings, and blasted out quite a few pieces of red paper when she shot last month.

Johnny the Rangemaster was impressed back then, and now Coach Pat today! Nice shooting, Mauv.
[sup]do NOT piss off Mauvaise![/sup] :stuck_out_tongue:

So, does that up or lower my chanc for repeat stalking(s) by you?

HA!

I would take that as a compliment, but I don’t think it’s that difficult a task :stuck_out_tongue:

I seem to make an impression on the gruff rangemaster-types

cough Especially not when I know where you live :stuck_out_tongue:

Dire Wolf, you got her off to a good start. No bad habits and a with just little advice on trigger control she was shooting very respectable groups. The only other thing I brought today were my cap and ball guns which we didn’t shoot and my Sig P245 which had just a wee bit too much recoil for the fair and petite Mauvaise. Next week I’ll let her try my '51 navies and maybe my Walker dragoon if she doesn’t break her wrist just holding it up

A Phoenix dopesheutzenfest sounds like a terrific idea. We’ve got three major outdoor ranges in the area. Ben Avery north of town is the biggest public shooting facility in the US but Phoenix Rod & Gun is closest to central Phoenix. We’ll see how many might be able to make it and plan accordingly.

You know, I’ve been thinking about that…

How do I know that you weren’t stalking me at the Dopefest? And then when you were found out, you cleverly shifted the blame!

Very wiley, Mauvaise. Very wiley.

Damn! I’ve been found out. I’m actually psychic and managed to divine where you’d be and was able to get there first so it appeared that you were stalking me.
:stuck_out_tongue:

It seems today was my day. I bowled my best game ever today: 176. I started that game with 4 strikes in the first 4 frames

Go me!

I went out to the range again this morning. This time by myself. I think I did quite well. I shot another box (of 550) and that link is my best target.

Rangemaster Pat gave me one pointer (to relax my pinky) and then later BikerDude Michael gave me some technique type pointers (for my grip and stance). Between the two I think I got some helpful tips and am more relaxed now.

Next week I’ll be meeting Padeye again

Hey, if you look real close at those bullet holes, you can see the face of Annie Oakley. :stuck_out_tongue:
