I opened my Netflix disk today and had a WTF moment. The disk looked like a pirated DVD with a handwritten label. I was about to send a nasty gram to Netflix, but I checked on the internet and found out that they all look like that. I guess it was some sort of marketing gimmick. Apparently a lot of people that bought it on Amazon are pissed and are returning them.
Heh, that’s clever, I like that. (and the “Magda 32016” under the Sony logo.) I can’t believe people are returning them because they don’t like how the DVD looks.
I fell for this yesterday, took it back to the store I bought it from to exchange for a “real” copy. The clerks, the cashier, everyone fell for it. Processed a full exchange. Fortunately, I looked at the replacement before I left. Then the penny dropped.
Seriously? Everybody failed to completely overlook the huge “R” rating, the DVD Video and MPAA logos, the small print or the fact that the writing doesn’t actually look like magic marker?
