I think we need a Sockpuppet Filter: all the puppet’s posts would be replaced by “Hi, I’m [name of puppetmaster]. I have a weak argument. And a very tiny dick.” 
I swear, kids these days…why, I remember the halcyon days of sockpuppetry; when I managed to sock-puppet “andros”, “Clark K” and “David B” flawlessly, registering them well in advance of any need and being sure to post several thousand posts in a distinct “voice” (well, except for “Clark K”, I never could really figure out what his motivation was supposed to be.) Heck, I even made sure to simulpost with my sockpuppets! You know, this sort of shoddy attention to detail is why the Japanese are going to kick our butts… ::g,d&r::

I think it does tell us something about their respective characters though. These were people who were fanatical about their beliefs, I think that having no one else agree with them, having no one else see “the truth” drove them nuts. They had to construc followers to agree. Ithink it shows a fundamental doubt over the truth of their own arguments.
