Almost Human was a great show starring Karl Urban. I was said to see it die.
Alcatraz had its issues, but was also a really good show.

One series that never deserved the bad handling it got:
I wouldn’t mind seeing it redone as a period piece like The Americans, but only as long as it remained true to the original.
Dresden Files, the wizard detective.
Moonlight, the vampire detective show on CBS. Ok, maybe a theme is emerging.
Almost Human, police drama with the human paired with the android. Still painful.
There was one with humans with special abilities. I can’t remember the name. It got cancelled early and the show ended with everyone meeting at a house that blew up. Boom! That’s it.
This season:
“Selfie” It actually improved after cancellation was announced, but it’s probably toast.
“A to Z” Might be saved at the last minute. Hope not, bad show.
There was a cop show called Memphis Beat that ran for 20 episodes in 2010-2011.
I liked the setting–sort of a rougher-tougher Mayberry (real crime and some violence)-- and I liked the ensemble. They were quirky, warm, serious, wise, funny, and the characters liked and respected each other. The plots were serious and touching, but there was humor and tenderness, too.
The best thing was Alfre Woodard, who played the Lieutenant. She epitomized what I think a woman should be: strong, smart, vulnerable at times, sexy, and incredibly beautiful in a real world way. They put her in clothes that a regular woman in an informal office in the south would wear-- sweaters in jewel tones, pencil skirts, flats. God, she was something… I had a serious girl-crush on her and wanted to be just like her (the actress is 4 years younger than I am).
Episodes often ended with the main character doing something musical, and I could have done without that. He must be a singer in his other life.
Speaking of which, “Cop Rock.” I can’t, I just can’t.
Lucky, starring post-Northern Exposure John Corbett, pre-Mike and Molly Billy Cardell and pre-The Office Craig Robinson, was a really good show about the seedier side of Las Vegas. It really had an outstanding cast and well-written storylines.
Naturally, it lasted one season.
There was a series a long time ago, pre-X-files. It starred Dennis Dugan and Trevor Eve and was called Shadow Chasers. I loved that show but alas it was a one season wonder and now it’s difficult to find anyone who remembers it. I did get some episodes on video tape though … Beta. :smack:
I can only think of a few I wished were on this list.
I don’t think I could have taken a full run of David Lynch’s On The Air.
I really liked “Invasion”, which was on after “Lost” when “Lost” was in its prime. I heard it wasn’t renewed because of some contractual issues even though it had fairly high ratings.
For some reason tonight, I was reminded of Trophy Wife, a sitcom from last year. It was a pretty good show and I would have liked to have seen it renewed.
Never heard of this show before (a little before my time and it was never syndicated as far as I remember), but just watching a little on YouTube it was definitely ahead of its time. Also Danny Arnold did it (he would later do Barney Miller).
Good god, Jonny Quest only lasted one season?! It was rerun so interminably I would have thought there were 100+ episodes! Shows what you’ll watch as a kid! (and without it there might not have been a Venture Bros!)
Recently, I thought Unsupervised was a great adult animated show. And as I predicted Adult Swim is rerunning it (maybe it’ll get a second chance!)
All of this. I totally agree. I really liked that show and admired the Lieutenant as well. The plots were thoughtful and well-written, and characters grew more interesting. The hang out and sing endings? Well, it was Memphis.
Dhiegh, born Kenneth Dickerson, wasn’t of Asian extraction. He was, however, a devotee of Taoist philosophy. Sort of strange:
I really liked Surviving Jack.
Christopher Meloni was a scream…and I something of a thing for Rachael Harris.
After the show ended, the producers resolved the cliffhanger in an interview.
In Season 2 we would have found out that John Doe’s friend wasn’t the leader of the shadowy organization, it was just some random mook who got plastic surgery. And the secret for his knowledge would have been revealed as him dying and coming back to life after touching Heaven.
I’m a sucker for anything time-travel related, so a few years back I got into a show called Journeyman. I think it’s the last network show I watched. I’m still bitter about Alien Nation too.
Dark Skies, not the Keri Russell movie, but the mid-90s TV show.
Wonder falls on Fox in 2004. They only aired four episodes, which ran out of order. The whole 13 episode season is on DVD. The last episode is a good ending for the series so they must have known it was ending.
