Wheeeeee! I’ve received cards from Bambi Hassenpfeffer, dbygawdcapn*, cowgirl jules, MsRobyn, lok, Hugh Jass, Archergal**, and Chicago Faucet.
Mine went out yesterday morning. Y’all are getting 24 different views of where I work. Hope you can read my writing; I was in a weird mood when I wrote some of those.
‘the formula’? Did I miss a memo? Beautiful picture of Greece (by way of Maryland)
** S&W Beans? I definitely missed a memo on this one!
Some other dopers wanted the long list, which had everyone’s name on it. Some dopers took the short list and wanted more names, so they would have gotten another list - so that is why you may be getting cards from other dopers who are not on your list. LVgeogeek - I will get another list emailed out to you.
As mentioned above, dbygawdcapn was the first in. Since then I’ve gotten them from:
Hugh Jass: Love the old-style “Greetings from Texas!” card;
Elenia25: What on earth is that weird, football-looking building? The highway heading into town looks cool with the underpass/tunnel thing;
Lok: I must admit I’ve never even heard of your hometown, but I really like that card; reminds me of James Thurber somehow;
Archergal: Awesome, handmade card; I take it this is part of a series? I’ve been to Stone Mountain many, many times, and immediately knew what I was looking at in the picture;
Cyn: I used to work for a company that did business with the Fresno Chamber of Commerce, so I actually know a little bit about your city;
Craneop2: I’m sure it IS beautiful this time of year; I’ve been to Texas in the springtime;
And Bambi Hassenpfeffer: Love the dolphins! I’m a native Floridian, but haven’t been back in a while; those beach photos always make me homesick.
Thanks, everyone; getting these cards is a great incentive to check the mail, since there might be something other than credit-card offers and bills!
Didn’t get any today. Finally made it to the post office to buy the rest of the stamps I needed to finish mailing everything. (Why don’t they sell post card stamps in the stupid machines!) When I got there I discovered I didn’t have the last 5 international cards with me, so it is back to the post office tomorrow.
GorillaMan, glad to see my cards are making it overseas.
jackelope, this isn’t my hometown. My hometown is much smaller than here. You might have heard of us in November of 2002. We had an F4 tornado go through town. So far I have seen stories from it on the History Channel and the Weather Channel. Even had the Japanese national news network here. But we could have done without the publicity.
Hey all. Just letting everyone who is on my list know that they’ll be going out by Monday. A little late but better late than never right ? Anyways I’m at school but my mpom has been getting a kick out of the postcards from everyone…can’t wait to see them this weekend!
Ohfergawdsakes. And here I am thinking: “Greece, hmmm, mathematical formulae, Archemides principle, the Golden Mean, various treatises I’ve read about modes and emotions (musical scales). Wonder which one he is looking for.”
Don’t need any hair dye. Just something to cover the bruise from banging my head aqainst the keyboard.
2 today. quiltguy and Ravenous Lady. quiltguy, Wright-Patterson is about 2 hours south of me. Did you put the black marker on the bottom of the card? It is covering some writing that is there.
Sent a couple out today, going to get some local postcards tomorrow.
Thanks for the ones I’ve gotten so far Dbygawdcapl, the card is amusing as much as it is confusing… Its great! Hugh Ass, yup, studying hard for the end of the semester. And for the next week or two the food here will be great, they’re doing having tours for prospective students, heh. Archergal, The most random photo… I love it, thanks. Craneop2 Looks beautiful, I’ve never been to Texas, it sounds beautiful. Meena, hey from a little bit north of you.
And Lok, yes, winter is finally letting go. Its a bit chilly but its getting warmer daily. I also havn’t heard of your town, looks like a really nice place.
I just posted the cards to everyone on my list. Please forgive the terrible stamp - the post office guy just looked at me funny when I cringed at the sight of one of the state rulers (Sultan) on the stamps (it’s some obscure silver jubilee celebration stamp). As you can see from my location, the cards may take some time to get to you guys, do be patient!
I’ve already thought of stuff to do for the next postcard exchange, though
Jun
I got 2 more today. Craneop2 Where is Pleasanton? I lived in Amarillo for a decade one year. I did travel nurse assignments in Austin 3 times. Austin’s cool. I’ve also spent time in Corpus Christi and Bryan. Passed through Dallas and Houston a few times.
** Screech owl** You work in a cartoon?! How cool is that!? Can I get Dudley DoRight’s autograph?
