The Great Ongoing .22 Thread

I’ve also got a CZ Lux .22 bolt-action rifle, 5-cartridge magazine. It’s a sweetheart for target shooting. When I was in the market for a rifle, I tried every .22 they had in the shop, and when I got to the CZ Lux and put it to my shoulder, I knew right away it was just the right fit for me. Bought it over 10 years ago, and I believe that particular model of the CZ Lux is no longer manufactured.

I’ve got a Glock G44. It was my first gun, and I got it mostly because I figured it was time to stop talking about constitutional rights, and actually exercising them.

What a fun, cheap gun to use to make holes in paper targets. Despite a lot of the early reviews, using whatever cheap FMJ ammos I’ve bought has been perfectly reliable.

It’s been a wonderful machine, well engineered, well architectured, to the point that a lot of gun nuts call it “boring,” kind of like a 1990’s Ford Taurus, I guess.

I’ve since expanded my deadly, assault gun, anti-social arsenal to encompass several different use cases, scenarios, and calibres, but my G44 is my favorite. It’s just so fun to use. I’m not a “gun nut” (honestly), but I (honestly) can’t wait to let my kids fire these in a safe, responsible manner, and educate them that guns aren’t evil but people can be.

I guess I should have said in the OP that the guns linked/pictured are ones I own.

The Ruger Mk II is very finicky, though the 10-22s are not. I contacted Ruger a couple of decades ago, and they said that the pistol has a ‘target’ chamber, which is tighter than the standard chamber on the 10-22. Remington .22LR just won’t reliably eject in the Mk II.

Heheh, the most finicky .22 I ever fired was a gun owned by the same roommate that owned a Single Six. It was an Astra Constable.

It was really a nice gun, but depending on the ammo you purchased it would be likely to give you a stovepipe jam or two every clip. I don’t think he had it long enough to find what ammo would work reliably in it, and he traded it in for a Taurus PT92,

The least finicky semi-auto .22 I remember firing was (IIRC) a Marlin model 60 that another friend owned. Throw whatever bag of .22 LR was cheapest into it, it was happy all day long. I’m pretty sure I never saw that rifle jam, and we put a ton of ammo through it.

That looks like my PPK/S.

I can’t remember a jam in any other one but the Ruger Mk II.

Looking back at the OP, it’s sad that I haven’t fired all of them. I haven’t fired the Winchester 94/22, the Marlin Model 39A, Henry AR-7, or the Ruger Single-Six. Because life intervened, I haven’t been to the rancg in 15 years. I bought those .22s (new, except for the Ruger) after that, but never renewed my range membership. (Also, I still need to gigure out the cylinders on the Single-Six.)

My 10/22:

Again, in my desire to just post the thread after a year and not posting anything about my .22s, I neglected to say that one of my 10-22s has a Mannlicher stock on it. I’ll have to take a picture.

Are those the Tech Sights? I bought a set off those for an Appleseed event.
