The Great SDMB Winter 2015 Postcard Exchange!

Thanks, but remember Rule 5.

I’m just having a heck of a week, so all these on the ball folks make me feel like a slacker. I’m aiming for Monday. Maybe Friday, if I’m very lucky. they will go out on time, though.

I have written them. I only wrote 6 and now my wrist aches. My handwriting is atrocious - apologies in advance to those receiving them, and any mail workers on the way who have to decipher it.

Will post, and confirm here, tomorrow.

They are in the mailbox, just waiting for the carrier. My part is done before the deadline!! Finally I feel organized!

Just dropped mine off at the post office.

Postcards are harder to find than I thought. I had to drive 20 miles to find a place that sold them. It was worth it though.

They are all ready to go, and will be posted tomorrow.

I will post again tomorrow after I mail them.

Got my first card, from a fellow Southern Californian. Algher speculates that if we both left home at the same time, we would reach the Getty simultaneously.

Mine are in the mail!

Mine are in the mail as of an hour ago!

Sweet! Keep it up, sportsfans.

I received a card and some pickles from our lovely FluffyPicklesniffer!

I received my first postcard today. It was a lovely vintage card, which reminded me of my great-aunt. She and her friends sent postcards to each other, and she kept the ones she received in an album. Her daughter and I used to go through the albums together, and those postcards were very similar to this.

Thank you, Grrlbrarian! Let me know if you ever decide to visit Peru, and I will meet you!

Sent a second batch of postcards off today… just for the fun of it

I just picked up yesterday’s mail, which had a lovely card from Algher. It has a picture of the Getty Villa, Malibu. And I suppose you do find wrap around porches in some parts of Georgia, though they’re fairly rare in my part of the state.
Thanks!

Every time I watch House Hunters, and the people are buying in the South, it seems that one of them wants a traditional Southern wrap-around porch. I thought maybe it was part of the building code down there! Now I’m surprised!

And silenus notes that HE found some cards there were not all from San Diego!

  • The Wynn Golf Club
  • Stanford University
  • An awesome movie poster card of Viva Las Vegas with Elvis and Ann Margret

In thanks to the SDMB semi-recurring postcard exchange - I now keep my eyes open for cards when traveling. Took my kids up to the Getty over the Winter break and picked up a few.

I dragged my butt out to the post office this afternoon, only to find out that Saturday hours are 9am-1pm (it was after 2). I’m so sorry guys, that means I can’t get them out until Monday. I feel awful. :frowning:

I will post when I finally get them out on Monday morning.

This is my first exchange, so mine are kind of boring :frowning: but now I’m going to be keeping my eyes open, as well.

I posted my cards this morning. Since it is Sunday, I had to use the funky machine at the post office, so the stamps are not interesting. (Unless maybe you are on LSD.) Also the funky machine didn’t have a “postcard” postage option, so I had to rely on Google to tell me the correct postcard amount – I hate relying on Google; it’s so unreliable. If your cards come postage due, let me know I’ll mail you some pennies.
