The Great SDMB Winter 2015 Postcard Exchange!

Whoop! So glad you got & liked the postie, Pai325. I got yours yesterday, and thanks for the awesomeness that is the Rockford Peaches! If you’re going to Champaign, you absolutely should stop in Morton. I’d love to see you anytime! And yes, I’ll let you know if I’m roundabouts Peru. We love to visit the Cajun Connection up Rt. 6 a ways: ever been there?

No, I haven’t. I will need to try it!

The ride from Champaign to Rockford has to be the most boring drive ever. I look forward to a reason to stop for a bit!

I have received my first card from Grrlbrarian, who sent a lovely oversized card with pictures of buildings at her Alma Mater, Bradley University! Thanks!

Still waiting for one. I’m sure it won’t be long now…

Finally going out to buy my postcards today. I was “taken out” last Wed. most suddenly by the dreaded gastroenteritis (AKA viral “stomach flu”). I never got so ill, so fast, and so dramatically in my life.

Was taken to the emergency room and had to stay for several hours; saline I.V.; etc. Constant lower g.i. “irritation”, if you get my drift. :o Sent home at midnight via cab.

Now up and about … it took a solid 5 days, and my spouse Chuck (from whom I caught This Crud) is still not quite right.

By the time these postcards get to you, they should be thoroughly re-germified by the postal handlers  :smack:

I received my first postcard today - a beautiful view of Seattle and on the back of the card a rockin’ kitty cat playing guitar - from Helena330!

I got postcards (yes, plural!) from Blondebear today!

One is from the Blackhawk Automotive Museum, featuring 3 very futuristic-looking Alpha Romeos from the mid-1950s. I haven’t been out to the Left Coast in a long time and have been threatening to visit friends out there sometime in the next couple years. I will definitely put this place on my Stuff to Do list.

Also enclosed was a vintage set, with pictures printed on both sides and enclosed in its own mailer, from the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago. Behold a few examples from the set. According to the printing on the mailer, the lot would have cost 1.5 cents to mail back then. So cool! Thank you!

You NUT! I got three more postcards today. I love your art. Thank you! You made my day!

Mine are finally out even though my car had a dead battery when I went out this morning.

Today I received a beautiful card with a view of the River Limmat in Zurich, from Anaglyph. What a beautiful place to call your home town. Thank you.

I’s buying and mailing cards tomorrow. I have been delayed by helping my mom while in the hospital.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll get some, although I don’t deserve any since I’ve been slow.

Atomic Mama, hope you’re feeling better, and Baker, hope your mom is doing better!

Just got my first card today, from Anaglyph, a beautiful aerial view of Zurich in the snow. Thanks!

Mine are sent, sorry for the delay.

Got a card from Elendil’s heir, showing an old bakery and candy store in Oberlin. Thank you - I can almost taste the candy and smell the smell of baking.

Got two in the mail this morning from Lsura. A gorgeous one of her hometown she got when she was home for Thanksgiving, and one of an exhibitionist cupcake. Sweet!

Today I got 2 from Silenus. I read them in the wrong order, and was briefly confused (only because it was a LONG day at work  ) Lovely images of on the picture side of the San Diego Zoo and the Seaport Village. They made me want to be at an ocean.

Three out, three in today. I finally got mine in the mail. Let’s see how long they take to arrive. And I came home to three cards. I like the symmetry of it. Two of the cards are from silenus. Lovely views of San Diego. And a picture of an outdoor theatre from Algher. Thanks!

Got a card from **romansperson **today, an illustrated map of North Carolina, “The Blessed Land, The Best Land, The Old North State”. It brings back fond memories of my visits (much too short!) to the state on a couple of road trips. Thanks! (and yes, we Endless River fans need to stick together! :D)
