The Great Summer 2014 Postcard Exchange!

I got some postcards! silenus sent three, #1 arrived last Thursday and #2 & #3 on Friday. I also got Elendil’s Heir’s card on Thursday. I also got a postcard from a friend who went to Norway… completely unrelated to this, but kinda cool, too. It’s so nice to get hand addressed mail, just for me.

My cards went out in the mail on Friday morning.

brainstall, I neglected to put my username on the cards I sent you. You did get a manila envelope from Kansas, right? With eight cards? That was from me.

Thanks! Never heard of the guy, or Klein bottles, for that matter. Ignorance fought.

Baker, nothing yet, but will eagerly check the mailbox on Monday.

Wahoo! My first card arrived from Finland! Historical poster reprint of cruising the Baltics on a steamship from Arrogance Ex Machina. My cards are all out in the care of the USPS.

I put my “extra credit” postcard in the mail this morning (it’s a long story…).

Me too, from jayrey!

I also just got one from Atomic Mama - yummy Maine blueberries. Now I want pie.

Jayrey, I got yours about Thursday-ish last week. It was stuck in a magazine and I didn’t see it until this weekend.

Thanks, Labtrash. I feel better now knowing that they haven’t gone too far afield.

According to The Spreadsheet, no one has received all of their cards yet, but several folks – blondebear, Brainstall, Elendil’s Heir, silenus, faithfool, Grrlbrarian, Baker, Lsura, Karen Lingel, and **Labtrash **-- have received a postcard from at least two of their three compatriots. Fluffy Picklesniffer, Teuton, phouka, Algher, and **Cheez_Whia **have each received one.

We have yet to hear from Purplehorseshoe or **minionkat **. Are you guys still alive and kickin’? Remember that the deadline to mail your postcards is Friday, August 15. Don’t make me give your address to Skald. It wouldn’t be pretty, I promise you.

It is apparently Seafood Postcard Day! Today, I got one from Labtrash, of shrimp boats in a lovely sunset, and one from Atomic Mama, of a rather ferocious looking Maine lobster (excuse me, correct pronunciation is “lobstaahh”).

Now if I could only figure out why I’m suddenly so hungry . . .

But a good one. I really liked the ending.

I’ve just got home and in the post I’ve found a card from Cheez-Whia (sorry, I don’t know how to do underscores on my phone). Thanks muchly.

The postman left it sticking out of my box and we’ve had heavy rain today, so alas - quite a bit of the card got rather pulpy. I can still see some of the sculptures though.

Oh, that’s too bad! Would you like me to send another card?

My postcards have been sent today! Hope they will make it soon to their recipients. Sorry for the delay, but I was out of home until now.

So… To my three recipients: You should be getting postcards soon  So far I got postcards already, from “Fluffy Picklesniffer” Thanks for the lowely backside of a cow!

Just got my final card, from brainstall, and it shows the Flying Bedstead. Thanks! How’d you know I like offbeat aircraft?

I got two cards in the mail today! Karen Lingel sent one with the UC Berkeley Campanile Tower, and I got the extra from williambaskerville with a picture of the O’Connell Bridge in Dublin! Thanks very much, both of you!

No no, that’s fine. Now that the card has dried it’s a bit easier to read and I can pretty much make out all of the pictures.

Is “Art on the Corner” a permanent exhibition?

I came home from work today to discover two postcards in my box from Grrlbrarian! One is an absolutely stunning night view of Peoria Illinois and the other is a no less beautiful view of Cincinnati Ohio with sparkly pretty lights over the water.

Excellent. Three days to get your cards in the mail if you haven’t already sent them, sportsfans.

Yes, it is. Some of the pieces are permanent and some aren’t. One of my favorites is a sculpture of Dalton Trumbo writing in the bathtub!
