… Tribute.
Seriously though, I’ve always been of the opinion that a good music video can make even a bad song tolerable, and make a brilliant song sublime.
So, let’s hear your thoughts on the best Music Videos out there!

What are your favourite music videos?
Take On Me - A-Ha - The awesomeness of comics coming to life knows no bounds.
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel - Completely surreal and strange and relevant to nothing.
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden - This video gave me nightmares.
Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar - Possibly the first use of the Group Dance Sequence in music videos. Definitely the first use of Group Dance Sequence by Prostitutes in music videos.
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinéad O’Connor - My heart breaks for her, because she looks so thoroughly sad.
Lady Marmalade - Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink & Lil’ Kim - Yeah, I bought into it. The video was completely slick and shiny and polished and a perfect vehicle for the song.
Bastards of Young - The Replacements - I guess this is the anti-video, as it is four minutes of a stereo playing the song. Brilliant statement about the music video culture or lack of a production budget? Either way, it’s confident and I dig it.
That Art of Noise video where they saw apart their instruments & the little girl in makeup talks about England in the springtime & the band manacingly follow her & her dachshund.
WHat?
Really, tho TenD’s tribute IS the best parody video.
I still love Bonnie Tyler’s TOTAL ECLIPSE video.
My favorite video is a rather obscure one. And I’ve only seen like three times. when I was a freshman in high school, Scandal’s EP came out (Patty Smythe? “Goodbye to You”? Anyone?) I absolutely loved that record, and you know, it’s a shame they never recorded another one. Cause the didn’t. I never saw a second one. Nope.
Anyway, my favorite song of the 5 on that EP was (and is) “Love’s Got a Line on You” for which there was a video. I saw it a few times, but my buddy saw it like five times a day for months. I was so mad. It’s like unrequited love or something. Maybe obsession. I can’t even tell you much about it, I think Patty wore a blue dress. And it’s the greatest cause I’ve never seen the damn thing. Trust me on this.
How does the old Thriller video by Michael Jackson stack up? I’m not in the know on music videos, but my understanding was that this was one of the first videos that told a story with a beginning, middle, and end. And it’s a pretty damned good video on its own.
Human Behaviour - Bjork
and that one by Keane with the nature spirits, also the one by Moby with the LGMs
Van Halen, “Hot For Teacher”
The video for Lordi’s “Blood Red Sandman” would work as a short horror film even on mute.
Human Behaviour - Bjork
Many Red Hot Chili Pepper ones, but I think Otherside is my fave.
and that one by Keane with the Roxleys - Somewhere Only We Know, also the one by Moby with the LGMs
I think this is generally regarded as a classic music video.
Oh yeah. Here’s Pitchfork’s 100 Awesome Music Videos. There are definitely some good ones in there. I think my favorite is Blur’s “Coffee and TV.”
That gives me an idea. Why don’t we try to link to our videos on YouTube? I’d definitely like to see some of these that you guys are mentioning. I’ll go first: Daft Punk’s “Around the World”
