Thanks for this deck idea. I’ve been running Jade Druid and consistently making it to 12 for most of the year than last month I barely made 14. This month I couldn’t make it to 15. I put together a dragon priest base to go with this combo and I’m blowing up the ranks now with a 7 win streak that just carried me to 15.
I haven’t really play priest much since I started playing so it’s been interesting getting all of the golden cards. Of course, I don’t have any of the right cards but since the deck is doing well I may craft a full dragon priest.
Try the “big spell” dragon priest variant, with Grand Archivist and Spiteful Summoner. It’s a tempo deck that eschews things like Potion of Madness and Shadow Word: Death in favor of always getting an 8 or a 10-drop off Spiteful Summoner, and always getting an 8-10-drop of a stolen card off Grand Archivist; it runs exactly Free From Amber and Mind Control as spells.
I’m not a big fan of corridor creeper. There’s not really any counter-play. What, don’t kill minions? It just ends up being a free 5/5 that gets dumped on you a lot which you couldn’t anticipate because it works fine in pretty much all deck archetypes. Not sure what they were trying to address with it.
This has really stopped working for me. There was a brief moment in time where my cut rate aggro decked surprised people but no longer.
I think the idea is an anti-cheap minion aggro. There’s a risk of flooding the board with cheap minions. Your opponent can do an AOE clear a slap these down. Of course the problem is that it works just as well for the guy aggroign with cheap minions.
I don’t think this card is really that big of a deal. It’s a good, flexible, neutral card so it’s played a lot. Similar to Scalebane or Bonemare. Those cards can win you games, but they’re generally not game winning and nowhere near as oppressing as the pirate package is.
There’s a slow demonlock deck out there that seems pretty powerful that revolves mostly getting those 9-mana taunt demons out early and resummoning them with the warlock DK. Think I may end up trying it, seems like it might be fun.
I’ve been sitting on 7000 gold but haven’t felt like playing arena lately. I guess I can just buy packs, but I usually like playing arena so it feels like a waste to do that.
Control Warlock is pretty good, I’ve lost to it plenty. I’m running Satellite Priest, which is a big spell/dragon price. Still around Rank 11, and climbing fast. It’s pretty cheap too!
Hearthstone really wants me to play this. I’ve opened up 2 Void Lords, the Demon Lackey, and the Spellstone. Unfortunately that leaves me about 3 Legendaries and 4 epics short of what you need.
Yeah, it’s not just me that the game has become crazy pricy, right? It’s like almost every really crucial card in this set is epic. Here’s a list of strong craft epics this set:
…And if warrior was even remotely viable, 2x Reckless Flurry.
More than half of the epics in this set are not just good but absolute must-haves. Many of the legendaries are as well. I started with like 6k dust, now I’m out after building just a handful of decks.
Yep, it’s definitely a big power shift. I’ve been pretty lucky with the number of legendaries I’ve opened. Unfortunately, none of them have been worth building a deck around. I’ve gotten Millhouse, Zola the Gorgon, Thrall, Priest Weapon, and Mage Weapon. That’s allowed me to dust and build one decent Priest deck.
I dusted Millhouse to get Ultimate Infestation when I still played Druid
Thrall turned into a Spiteful Summoner
Priest Weapon is a corridor creeper
I’ve still got Zola and the Mage weapon. I’m thinking of turning one of them into another Spiteful Summoner but I’m not sure.
I just played a game where I stole two of his Void Lords and used my Draknoid Operatives to get a third Void Lord and his Gul’Dan :p:p Silenced a Rin and a Cube as well.
I do run two Mind Controls. I think the one Spiteful Summoner I have probably is enough.
I can scrape together enough to get a legendary, but it would involve dusting useful legendaries, a golden Pyroblast, and some less than useful epics like Molten Giant and Nerubian Unraveler.
I first want to clarify that I am not recommending this, just informing that it exists. I know very little about it, having only watched a couple of promotional videos. I have not signed up for it yet. It is tied in in TempoStorm and Amazon, which lends it some credibility .
There’s a new thing in open beta called PlayVig that may be useful for earning gold in Hearthstone. You get choices of quests to complete by playing Hearthstone and earn coins which convert to Amazon coins at some unknown rate. You must watch a 15 second ad before each game of Hearthstone.
If anybody tries it I’d really like to hear about your experience. Here’s a link to a TempoStorm player doing a promo for it on YouTube:
Unexpected interaction. I put out the 9 mana 6/10 taunt guy. Priest casts that spell that makes him take control of it at the beginning of his next turn. I decide to play a faceless manipulator on it so I still have a 6/10 taunt when my turn goes around. Both the original and the faceless copy of it go to him next turn.
Meta snapshot came out yesterday. Highlander priest and big priest got better. I would like to play one of those decks - I like playing priest - but I just can’t afford it.
Raza is rotating next expansion so Machinegun Priest won’t be around for much longer. As for big priest… I’d advise you to just watch some videos of people playing big priest, it’s basically the same thing, just a gigantic slot machine. Man I hate that deck.
I look at the hearthstone subreddit from time to time. I’m kind of amazed at the lack of discussion about Corridor Creeper. That shit seems entirely broken to me but no one seems to think it’s a big deal. Maybe because it doesn’t have a massive, overwhelming immedaite effect like Yogg or whatever, but teasing out free 5/5 units on a condition that’s basically guaranteed to happen regularly is a big deal. I just got two of them dropped on me in the same turn in arena. Ugh.
There’s no specialization, there’s no particular decktype archetype you need to run it, no way to counter it, no bad time to have it. It’s just “hey, at some point would you like a 0 mana 5/5?” and if the answer is yes, that’s your card.
I frequent that subreddit and there has been a lot of complaining about it…but mostly not whole threads dedicated to it.
I mean, this is a game with Molten Reflection (had problems dealing with one Ragnaros? well, for just 4 mana (or less!) I have created ANOTHER ONE!), Ultimate Infestation, Bonemare, Scalebane…the power creep is insane. I was thrilled to get to rank 12 last month, I probably won’t break 15 this month given that the only decks I have are pre-KnC Big Priest, Treachery Warlock (I thought that would be more fun than it is), and no-minion hunter.
