The highly specific, verifiable prediction thread about Trump, Biden, etc

Or die. THAT would ensure Trump a few weeks of guaranteed publicity.

Just sayin’.

When Jimmy Carter passes on, Trump will not attend the funeral. All other living former presidents will attend.

I predict that Trump will make a lot of noise about running in 2024, but he will either be unable due to an incapacitating medical issue, such as a debilitating stroke, or will not survive the issue. This will happen in 2023.

Biden will not live long enough to serve a full term, making Harris the first female president.

Biden will have two Supreme Court vacancies to fill.

If Trump goes to the inauguration (which I doubt) he will attempt to disrupt the swearing in by shouting about rigged election. No longer president at this point, he will be frogmarched off the stand.

Our political cartoonist, pen name Aislin, drew a cartoon that had a 1-800-got-junk truck pulled up at the White House.

Almost no chance of this. Canada is predicting September 2021, and the USA is going to have a harder time getting people vaccinated than Canada. Frankly, Sept 2021 for Canada seems unlikely but I appreciate the prime minister’s enthusiasm. December 2021 seems more probable.

I think the USA is going to have significant pockets of COVID for a long time especially in red states. Honestly, I have no idea how the USA is going to deal with it.

Here we go.

  1. I predict that Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, Coney-Barrett, and Roberts will all still be on the SCOTUS when Biden leaves office.

  2. I predict the number of SCOTUS justices will be 9 or fewer when Biden leaves office.

  3. I predict that at least one state in the 2024 election will vote Democratic in the state popular vote but send a Republican slate of electors.

More to come, but I’ll start with these.

Okay, December 14 has come and gone so any predictions related to that can now be assessed. I’ll come back later and review to see if there are other EC vote predictions, but can happily say I was WRONG about mine - I predicted at least one faithless elector, and it seems there were zero. I’m happy to be wrong!

Got one so far. Trump vow to 'never concede' incites mob of supporters.

Well predicted! After the inauguration I will make a sweep of this thread and collate some clear correct/wrong predictions.

As for me, today I woke up to Warnoff and Ossoff wins, a dead computer (of all days! - it will take a week-plus for repairs and meanwhile I must limp along on a barely functional old computer with a nearly broken keyboard and a big black blob in the upper cornr of the scren) and domestic terrorism in the Capitol. None of which I predicted. I’ll embrace it all for the flipped Senate though.

Do I get credit for my first prediction? I did say “within six months”, I didn’t say which direction. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, @CairoCarol it looks like your very first prediction in the thread came true. Someone did die as a result of violence at a pro Trump rally.

Absolutely! I think “within 6 months of the inauguration” can be correctly read as “before six months passes after the inauguration.”

And I’m sorry but far from surprised that my prediction that at least one citizen would die in pro-Trump rally violence has come to pass, with the count currently standing at either 2 or 5, depending on whether you count the “medical emergencies” that occurred, for which I haven’t seen details. My bleak and perhaps snobbish imagination leads me to envision corpulent, out-of-shape fifty-somethings who subsist entirely on fatty, salty processed food getting so excited that they dropped dead of a heart attack mid-riot. Whether that bears any resemblance to what really happened I have no idea.

One heart attack, possibly self tasered; one stroke, one trampled, one policeman injured and killed by insurgent wielding fire extinguisher, and one shot by police attempting to gain entry to where members of Congress were being evacuating.

A split here. Never would have guessed I’d miss the second one on the technicality that Trump got his ass banned from Twitter.
Of my predictions with specific times that have passed, so far I’ve got 2 out of 3.

Okay, now that the inauguration is complete it’s possible to check some of these predictions. I’m only up to post #32 and will come back to this later (I spent the whole morning watching inauguration coverage and my house is filthy and I have work to do, so I need to stop having fun on the Dope for now.)

Also, I am only allowed to mention 10 users in a post, so I’m going to have to break this into two posts.

It’s worth noting that a few predictions are only wrong because Trump was banned by Twitter. Otherwise I’m sure all the predictions about his tweeting would be true.

Also, if people want to add the results of their predictions from other threads, feel free. For example, someone (I think it was @Ann_Hedonia) predicted elsewhere the Bill Barr would resign before the end of Trump’s term, and that one came true. I’m sure many others are scattered throughout the Politics & Elections forum and elsewhere.

ACCURATE PREDICTIONS

  • At least one citizen will die as a direct result of violence at a rally supporting Trump on or before January 20, 2021. (CairoCarol)

  • Trump will pardon a variety of people on his way out but will not attempt to pardon himself. (CairoCarol)

  • Trump will not attend the inauguration (CairoCarol, @ChockFullOfHeadyGoodness, @Velocity, @Hari_Seldon)

  • Pence will attend the inaguration (Velocity)

  • the inauguration crowd for Biden will be kept deliberately small. [smaller than Trump’s] (CairoCarol)

  • Trump will sulk and fume on TV a whole lot. (@Fretful_Porpentine) This one is somewhat subjective, and also there was no timeline attached, but I think we’ve seen and heard enough unhappy facial expressions and robotic, clearly unwilling delivery of calls to eschew violence to rate this one as accurate.

  • Trump will not concede prior to the counting of Electoral College votes in Congress on 1/6/2021.(ChockFullOfHeadyGoodness)

  • Biden will keep the inauguration crowd small and social-distanced. (Velocity)

  • Trump will make at least one, perhaps several pardons that will not make people happy. [This one is perhaps subjective, but there’s plenty of evidence in favor. A simple example is Steve Bannon, whose pardon was reportedly advised against by Cippolini and others] (@DrDeth)

  • There will be a right wing domestic terrorist attack by July of 2021. (@Buck_Godot)

  • He will claim to his dying tweet that he was robbed in the 2020 election. (@Deeg) This one’s a little hard to judge with precision, since he’s now banned from Twitter but has not yet died, but certainly as of his last Tweet he was claiming the election was stolen from him, so let’s call this one an accurate prediction.

  • DJT will be in Florida during the inauguration. I’m not toally sure - where the hell was he – on the way to Florida or already arrived? But true enough, I’ll say.(@BobLibDem)

  • Biden will be reviled by the progressive wing as being too centrist. [Subjective, but also obviously true.] (Velocity)

INACCURATE PREDICTIONS

  • Biden’s inauguration crowd will be bigger than Trump’s, despite Covid-19. (NB: I’m not totally sure of this one. The crowd was deliberately kept sparse but I haven’t seen numbers.) (@Pardel-Lux)

  • There will be between 2 and 10 faithless electors when the electoral college formally votes. (CairoCarol)

  • Trump will tweet that his crowd was larger. (CairoCarol, ChockFullOfHeadyGoodness)

  • The government will shut down on December 11th and not re-open until Trump gets some personal concession. (Buck_Godot)

  • Trump will host his own inauguration/swearing in on January 20th to compete with Biden’s. (Buck_Godot)

  • Republicans will win both GA senate seats in January. Mitch will retain leadership (@Cardigan)

  • Trump will tweet something vile at noon. (@BobLibDem)

  • When Pence announces the winner of the Electoral College, a fly will land on his hair. (BobLibDem)

You can just ignore my previous “Biden will be reviled by progressives for being too centrist,” that’s too unverifiable.

I think my prediction about Pence’s fly would have come true if the insurrectionists hadn’t scared them all off.

Agreed, and if I’d been feeling more clever I would have made a witty comment of that sort.

Say rather, the insurrectionists left souvenirs behind in the Capitol that the flies found even more attractive.
