The Hoodoo Gurus Remember The Date That Will Live in Infamy

Here’s a 2012 performance of “I Was A Kamikaze Pilot”.

I love this band. Why they couldn’t have been Australia’s #1 Export of the 80s is beyond me. Keep your Crocodile Dundee, keep your Mad Max, hell- I’ll even trade away INXS, gimme the Hoodoo Gurus.

The Hoodoo Gurus were a great band (I guess they still are since they’re back together:).) They were one of my favorite bands when I was in college. I saw them in Birmingham, AL in 1989.
One of my favorites: “Tojo”

They’re still a great live band and lots of younger bands could learn to rock as hard as they do.

I saw them live a few times in the late 80s, early 90s. Mitch Easter showed up and played with them once in North Carolina. I remember it being a pretty darn good show.

I remember one day in the 1980s walking by the Keystone San Francisco, and seeing on the marquee

“Wall of VooDoo
and
The HooDoo Gurus”

I thought, wow, who the hell booked that? Wise guy!

I would have definitely gone to that show.

Aye, that show would have totally fucking rocked; I’da gone.

A triple-header with Oingo Boingo would make have been a killer show.

I was at a music venue that decorated its walls with all it’s old show posters.
There was one that listed:
Hoodoo Gurus
The dB’s
The Dream Syndicate

Now that would have been an awesome show!
