What’s even more amazing is that whoever staged it figured out the perspective. Compare the size of the people in the foreground to the people at the top of the torch.
It’s a bit like the amazing chalk artist guy. When viewed from the correct angle, the illusion is eye-popping. Scroll about 3/4 of the way down on the page to the “Make Poverty History” image. It shows what it looks like when you are viewing it head on vs. overhead.
I saw this picture ages ago in Life magazine, alonfg with the similar pix of Calvin Coolidge done with lined up people, and a US Shield. Fascinating stuff.
