Lowell also quoted several instances of Jim Jordan saying that such a subpoena was not valid.
But we were assured that the Republicans were debating whether to have Hunter arrested on the spot not whether they were even going to hold him in contempt for defying a the subpoena?
I’ve been posting to the Straight Dope for two decades. There is no such thing as a conclusive statement outside of mathematics.
If you want to hunt down some sort of authoritative cite that no one person, neither Republican nor Democrat, invited Hunter to visit then by all means post it and I’ll swap my description to match the evidence. “Current evidence shows that he was not invited.” For the moment, “seem” is the more technically accurate phrasing.
Personally, I’m not seeing that it’s a matter of any large significance, either way but you’re free to clarify it and I’ll read what you find.

One comment uttered by one person, in no way, shape, or form, looks like the Republicans were having a debate.
Nancy Mace made one hyperbolic remark and that was that.

Rep Mace actually does bring it up a second time, but it is crystal clear that she is making the case that Hunter Biden should be held in contempt, and not actually advocating that he be arrested on the spot.

Several people speak after that and no one even obliquely references Biden’s immediate arrest. He leaves about six minutes latter when Margie Dick Pics is given the floor.
Mace is also the one, I believe, who claimed on the House floor that Hunter Biden had no balls. Maybe that’s why the dick pics were shown.
Republicans. Clowns.

Hunter has agreed to a closed-door desposition with the committee members.
Isn’t the subpoena invalid? And why behind closed doors?

Huh. No matter what happens in these closed sessions, Hunter B should come right out and say “The committee found I was totally innocent, and begged for my forgiveness.”
Let them deny it.
“It was the best deposition, ever. Nobody in the history of the world has ever given a better deposition.”
Republicans seem to lap that stuff up.
“When I was giving my deposition, big strong men with tears in their eyes came up to me and said “Sir, that was the best deposition anyone has given.” And then they all had ice cream and I got two scoops.”
You joke, but the law be damned, if I were him, I’d secretly record the whole thing, and then release it in its entirety as soon as they start lying about it. Almost certainly illegal, but I’d be willing to roll the dice on jail time in such a case.
I think that would be brilliant. Release it to the NYT. Who can tell who recorded it?
