The Hunter Biden Investigation {thread started in 2019}, Hunter Pardoned on December 1, 2024

I’m sorry. I thought you were making a comment on Joe Biden’s parenting skills. I do not dispute that Hunter should not have purchased a gun or lied on the form.

My mistake

Children do not always reflect on their parents. There are terrific people who bring up terrible children and vice versa. Perhaps Hunter lost his way because he lost his mother and sibling at a young age. Perhaps he just didn’t have enough time with his father. Or he could have been one of those who for whatever reason turned to drugs.

Fred Trump has been dead for a while now. Let’s keep this current

[clap] Best answer to that post. Well done.

That would be the addiction.

The fact that he was able to overcome that addiction says a lot more about his character than the fact that he became addicted in the first place.

By that same logic, addiction has no connection to sexual assault, robbing a convenience store, nor any other crime.

I think you’ll find that police statistics disagree with that sentiment. All of the evidence in the world, so far, has said that people who are addicted are more likely to commit pretty much every crime.

This one particular crime might not be the most common but, if one guy would rob a liquor store to get money for some crack then I can imagine another guy being willing to check a box on a form in order to protect himself while buying crack (or, whatever Hunter’s motive was).

It truly boggles the mind how crazy the MAGA theories are getting. If I parse this correctly, they are claiming that Biden arranged for his own son to be prosecuted and convicted for a “minor” crime in order to cover up something even bigger. Presumably David Weiss must be in on it as well? Maybe the jury and the Trump appointed judge are also in on it? These guys keep getting nuttier and nuttier, but yet the base keeps believing this stuff.

Joe is all powerful. He’s got my vote.

I agree 100%; you are no expert.

Why did Hunter want the gun? Drug-induced paranoia? An urge towards self-harm? Has he ever said?

I believe I read that he thought target shooting might be a pastime that would take his mind off using.

Shoulda gone with pickleball.

Yeah, their form is a lot less incriminating.

Trump and Co. are really petty, aren’t they? Can’t even offer a crumb of polite empathy.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a bunch of Ukranian political influence, millions of dollars in illegal contributions, and big guy something or other?

We already know that cheating so so commonplace with them that their default assumption is that everyone is always cheating all the time. Between that and the fact that the prosecution’s case wasn’t particularly strong and it was clearly politically motivated, I think even the right just assumed he’d be acquitted and they were totally unprepared for a guilty verdict and didn’t know what to do with themselves.

I found it kind of amusing. They had a guilty verdict. They have hours upon hours of testimony full of anecdotes about the sitting president’s son buying a gun and smoking crack. The laptop even made an appearance. Without lying about anything at all, they could (and probably will anyways) ride this all the way to the election.
But what do they do with all this ammo? They spin it into an existing conspiracy theory. Anyone that’s not far enough to the right to buy into the the Biden Crime Family thing is going to dismiss anything about Hunter’s guilty verdict as long as they’re being told it’s part of cover up.

It reminds me of Trump complaining about how the election was rigged against him, in 2016, after he won.

It’s Biden with an E, not an O.

That’s what the tax evasion trial is going to be about.

No. He failed to pay Incomes taxes for a few years. Now he has paid the back taxes.

The president’s son was indicted in December and has pleaded not guilty to all counts. Prosecutors allege that Hunter Biden engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million income taxes for the tax years 2016 through 2019. Weiss and his team claim that Hunter Biden made more than $7 million between 2016 and the fall of 2020, and spent millions on an “extravagant lifestyle” while failing to pay his taxes.

I’m presuming there’s a basis for the prosecutors’ allegations. Which means that they’re going to look at where that $7 million came from, what he was doing to earn it, if he tried to hide that income, and if any of the mechanisms he used to hide that income involved foreign parties. There’s essentially no chance that Hunter Biden was being paid for the value of his work output. So the question is, what was he being paid for? Expect that to be examined ruthlessly, likely by the prosecutors and beyond doubt by the news organisations.
