So what happens to the bodies of Udai and Qusai? Will they be handed over to the Iraqi people? Brought back to America (for whatever reason)? Given back to the family for burial? Tossed into an unmarked hole?

I don’t know for sure, but I heard one news report that the remains were being transported someplace where the DNA testing could be performed. After that, I have no idea. I don’t think this is the proper place for me to say what I think should be done with them.
I’m sorry that I have nothing to add to this thread, except that “fall mainly on the plain” sounds great after the title.

My completely uneducated WAG is that after DNA confirmation of their identities, the bodies will be turned over to some interim Iraqi authorities or religious organization for disposition.

There is a concern that the Iraqi people will not believe they are dead unless and until they see the bodies.

“We” consider it immoral to display dead bodies for these purposes and probably won’t.

Maybe the Iraqis won’t think it immoral to display bodies of these dead for proof positive purposes.
No doubt, we will release the bodies only to someone who WILL present the bodies for inspection.

The news said the bodies were transported out of the country (they didn’t say where, and didn’t specifically say it was for DNA testing). I thought that in Islam the bodies have to be buried in X number of days (1 day? 3 days?). So I presume they aren’t getting an Islamic burial?
