I don’t put anyone on an Ignore list.

Exactly. I have people on my ignore list not because they never say anything worthwhile … but because so much of what they say is idiotic, dishonest, or whatever that it mars the overall experience. I consider it pretty much like using a DVR to skip past commercials. I might be missing a really funny ad … but probably not.
The whole point of putting someone on your ignore list is that the board is a more pleasant experience without reading what they say. It discourages you from automatically reading what they have to say. Does it show weakness? Sure. But no more than people having to run to the Pit to complain about what so and so said.
It’s a tool to help you do what you want to do anyways, scroll on past what a particular person says. It helps you keep from letting that person have residence space in your head.
Now, I’m not sure about the whole telling someone they are on your ignore list. It can be useful to tell the other person not to bother trying to talk to you. It can be useful to demonstrate exactly how much you dislike a person. But it also tends to encourage the person to start a Pit thread.
