I cannot find a website for this place no matter what I do.
Has anyone been there with the kids and what did you think? (My wife and 2 year old may go with me to Nashville when I go in November for some business training, but their going with me may be dictated by the availability of fun-kid-things-to-do for a couple days.)
(FYI - It sounds like an interactive-museum-activity area for kids, but I can’t find anything more than brief text descriptions of the place. imaginarium.org is for a place in Alaska which doesn’t mention the one in TN)
I’m surprised that there haven’t been any legal battles over the name “Imaginarium”. Toys “R” Us owns the Imaginarium chain of toystores, and Amazon.com, in partnership with Toys “R” Us, plans to launch imaginarium.com. Interesting.
xizor - have you been to both places? The Imaginarium originally attracted my attention because I had read the link Reeder provided while trying to find a web page on this thing and it seemed to suggest that the Imaginarium was designed for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
The science museum looks like it may have many things for older kids and maybe not as much for the little ones. Again, my son just turned 2 six weeks ago, and I’m sure he’d like Rat Basketball, but maybe the other would be better because it would offer more for his age group (?).
Yes, and while neither is the greatest Museum I’ve ever been to, I’d give a slight advantage to the science museum in the categories of lower price, less commercialism, and more educational. While the nod for kids-are-too-young-to-care-about-science-and-just-want-to-play would go to the imaginarium.
Side-note: Most toddlers will believe you if you show them the Bell South building and tell them Batman lives there. E-mail me if you want any other touristy info on Nashville.
If you have time and a car, I’d suggest the Tennessee Aquarium. It’s in Chattanooga so it’s an hour and a half to two hours away(and you lose an hour going). But with a two year old, you may not want to make the drive.
There’s also the zoo. I never made it there when I lived in Nashville, so I can’t say how good it is.
