The Impossible Quiz

I can’t click the link. It comes up as blocked, reason: pornography.

Is there really a game or is everyone trying to whoosh everyone else?

Heh…a good idea for “mess with people” thread, but no Jelymag, it’s real.

Give this link a try.

You’ve got a drawing of an animal, a clue: “Neigh, Whinny”,and a keyboard. What do you think you should “type”?

What is the deal with killing a werewolf? I know the answer, but it makes no logical sense!

No, it’s a real quiz. It’s hosted by Newgrounds, which may be why it’s blocked. The only pornography as far as I know is a naked duck.

The quiz is a series of questions, many of which have inscrutable logic, but a few of which are somewhat clever. Others require cursor movement or depend on things you can do in Flash. The instructions do state that some are down to ‘complete guesses’, but few seem like complete non sequiturs. It is multiple choice for the ‘guessing ones’.

A good example of a ‘random, but logical, if only in hindsight’ :

The Answer is really big.
(choices)

  1. [The word ANSWER, in large letters]
  2. Really big
  3. [an infinity symbol]
  4. an elephant

The answer is ‘an elephant’.

An example of a more clever one, #17 :

24-7 =?
1.18
2.2
3.16•931
4.walrus

None of those are correct; instead you must click on the #17 question number in the upper left corner.

You aren’t expected to get it right on the first try; instead you play it multiple times to finish (and you’re given some skips to help learn it). But requiring the ‘button mashing’ of #59 is a deal-breaker for me (especially since it turns into an immediate ‘game over’, no matter how many ‘lives’ you have).

The December 2nd one bothers me since it doesn’t even seem to have a logic of its own, but seems like it should. The question is “What follows December 2nd?” To get ‘n’, you have to write “december second” as December 2, but then require another ‘n’ on the end (which means that ‘December 2’ does not mean ‘December second’). I suppose I shouldn’t be bothered by it.

The constant use of ‘mouse’ for cursor (except in the cases where necessary to the question) also bothers me; I’m not using a mouse.

I like it, it’s clever.

I interpreted it differently:

What follows December, first? The numeral “2” in the string “2nd”. What follows December, second? The letter “n”.

I agree with this. In the phrase “December 2nd,” the numeral “2” follows December first, and the letter “n” follows December second.

December 2nd is my birthday, as it happens.

What I first thought was, “What’s that little mound next to the horse with the ball on top?”

Then I thought, “Neigh is a pun for ‘nay.’ What does the ‘whinny’ part mean?”

It was so obvious that the drawing was a horse, I figured that couldn’t possibly be the answer. It would be like putting up a drawing of an eye, a heart, and a ewe, where the answer is to type “eye heart ewe.” I would be trying to figure out the rebus and wondering why “I love you” didn’t work.

It’s an actual game, but the site it’s one has some pron-related files… following the link is SFW, at least until the question about the arsonist.

How do you get past the level with the meteorites and the green arrows?

Question 66? Click on the exclamation point at the end of the clue.

I can’t finish the damn thing even with the answers!

Makes perfect sense, Usram and Gadarene. Thanks!

I immediately thought of spelling ‘HORSE’, but only because I thought the thing in the middle was somehow a basketball hoop. Looking again, maybe it’s supposed to be a wireless keyboard, but I’m not sure how that helps.

Apparently, by dodging all of the red meteors with your mouse, but hitting both arrows (those are “pass” arrows, and you’ll need them) and the green meteor. Which, of course, is not a “quiz” at all, but a mini-game. At least you get a bunch of tries on that one, though (you get three “lives” in the minigame, and losing all of them costs you one “life” in the quiz.

It looks to me like whoever made that flash had a bunch of clever ideas, but decided they weren’t enough, so added the random ones to flesh it out. Which does, in fact, make the quiz harder, but not in a good way.

I missed this thread, but someone sent me the link to the game today. I’m being defeated (defeeted?) by the toenail clipping on #82. Just not moving the mouse (touchpad) fast enough.

Evil. Just… evil.

Seriously! And I only got to 28. And I’d lose a life because sometimes I couldn’t remember the correct answer from before! Must stop…

Just in case you needed more frustration, there’s a second impossible quiz.
