I always miss the spam, too. Was it entertaining, at least?
Nice pic, taxi. The dress really suits you. And the snow pics are
Sounds like you’re getting settled in, kai.
Glad you made it home safely, Bobbio; even if it took forever.
Hope you found something good for your parents, LiLi.
We had snacks at work this morning and then went to lunch at 2:30 so that most people didn’t have to go back to work afterward. (People didn’t want to have to use too much leave time…) Lunch was at Gordon Biersch - yum. I had one of their mini-desserts as well. Their bread pudding is very yummy.
Now, though, I’m not hungry at all, so I’m trying to get moving and get a few things done before brother gets home with nephew.
We’re home from the soiree. We had a good time. No pizza cause the horsedoin’s were like heavy horsedoin’s. Serious horsedoin’s. Steamed shrimp, grilled skewered shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, those little tomato/basil/mozarella cheese things (there’s a name for 'em but I can’t think of it), crab dip, olive tapinade, fruit, cheese, little crescent rolls with ham and cheese baked inside, crudite (pronounced crud-ites), little fancy cookies, little cheesecakes and little cinnamon crumb cakes that were still warm. Plus wine and champagne punch. Really nummy! Thus no need for Papa John’s to cook. The plan was about a half an hour before we left I was gonna step outside and call PJ’s to order pizza. What, doesn’t everybody have Papa John’s number in their cell phones? Didn’t happen.
It’s warm and rainyish out. Feels like it could be stormy.
MOOOOOOM you’re right about half and half in N.O.T. soup. Plus, it bein’ soup it doesn’t have many calories cause it’s soup and soup is healthy, right?
You are correct about soup being healthy, swampy. There is a little sandwich shop in our office complex that sells tomato soup that is Campbell’s, made with 1/2 and 1/2. It is teh yum. And also contains practically no calories.
I’ve taken a nap and have done a bit of straightening up. I would like to go back to sleep now, but brother and nephew will be here soon and there are a few more things I’d like to get done before they get here.
swampy, I forgot to correct you yesterday - the proper term is horse ovaries. Learned that from a friend of my youngest sis. You’re welcome.
**FCD **has left for work. He’s got a project that has to be designed, built, tested, and installed by Jan 6. He got the assignment 2 days ago. He’s just a little stressed.
My plans include, um, cleaning the carpet in this room, a run to WalMart, baking up 10# of russets, and whatever else comes up. Probably also driving my car thru a carwash. I’m doing a quick-knit shawl for a nursing home donation - on #13 needles - it’s going fast. I like fast projects.
That’s all for now. It’s still dark out - why am I up? Oh yeah, spouse got up and went… Happy Saturday.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. ‘Tis a rainy, dreary and coolish Sattidy mornin’ in south Jawja which is pretty much a typical Winterish day down heah. Since we do not have anything special to do today and no real reason to be out amongst the hoardes, fine by me if’n it rains all day.
MOOOOOOM I know it’s sometimes pronounced horse ovaries but I like horsedoin’s better. I will never be able to spell that word without lookin’ it up first and I’ve been too lazy to do that.
Ok, I got stuff here for sammich makin’s and I think I’ll pull some beast stew or soup out of da freezer for dindin. That way, food intake is taken care of without actual cookin’. Just thaw and nuke and there’s a homecooked meal! Magic! Maybe I’ll make some chawklit chip/pecan cookies. That’s a nice cool weather thing to do. Then again there’s the matter of a certain OYKW who I’ll have to keep from droolin’ in the batter. On the plus side though I’d get entertained with the happy cookie dance. The dance is the basic goofy white man dance while repeatin’ the word cookie over and over. We’re a class act all the way!
Right now, however, more caffiene and feedin’ of rumbly tummy is needed. Dang! That means actual cookin’. Oh well. Maybe a ham 'n cheese omelette. YUM!
Awake…surfing…and have seen this video pass through my Twitter stream twice now from unrelated sources. Since it’s holiday-themed, I thought I’d share. It’s an iBand!
Back from erranding. I got a few things at WalMart, but they didn’t have what I went for, which is my favorite flavored waters. Oh well. Then I ran by Michael’s and got a #13 circular needle for the shawl I’m working on - I’m going to run out of space on the regular needles in short order. Last stop was at a drive-thru carwash. For $8, my car got de-salted.
I just finished scrubbing 10# of N.O.T. and in a minute, I’ll rub a little oil on them then load them into the oven for an hour. The little ones will become N.O.T. skin appetizers, with the innards scooped out for soup, and the big 'uns will be twice baked.
It’s grey and dreary out - I thought today was supposed to be sunny. Stoopit weather.
gt that video is the jakiest! We both had a great time watchin’ it and I’ve shared it with a bunch of folks. Way beyond my tech know-how and creativity. Everybody should click on that link.
Cookie makin’ shall commence in a while. It occured to me at about ten o’ clock to, you know, like, take the butter out of da fridge to soften. DUH! So for now, bein’ as it’s cold and drizzly out, the general consensus is nappy poo time!
The sun is out but it be cooooold outside. The mancave was 58.5 this am—rest of the house was 72. I now have little electric heater blowing at my feet. By supper time it might be comfy down here.
Vorlon Jr. reports the following from shop class: He is in the last week of the ‘exploritory’ phase for shop classes. Auto body repair. Because of the holidays, they only get 4 days of the class. This is a sort of test drive so the sprogs can try out the class and see what they want for a shop for the next 3.5 years. He ultimitly wants metal fab, the metal fab teacher wants him, and he likes it. Just has to finish out this week. They are designing and making a licence plate, with cut out metal and painting it. He said the teacher was going around the room, reviewing the designs and commenting the following:
Won’t work.
Not a chance.
will not fit.
Won’t work.
Are you sure you are a freshman?
Needless to say, the last one was his. He had a wide grin on last night.
The internet had been flickery since last weekend and finally stopped working altogether Thursday. Dad stayed home yesterday to fix it - got a new modem, called in a repairman, and come this morning it’s working. Yay! You don’t realize how reliant on it you are until you don’t have it…
I’d already seen that one EH. Cute. Not as good as the Facebook Haggadah (seriously funny!) but still good.
Cookie bakeage (is too a word!) has been achieved. In the words of OYKW, da cave smells cookielicious! I had to threaten him with a spatula beatin’ to keep him from snarfin’ down cookies right out of the oven. It took a threat with the really hard plastic one to get him to stop this time. Sometimes I have to take extreme measures.
I’ve now got a dozen twice-baked N.O.T. in the freezer, except they haven’t been baked the second time - that’ll come when we eat them. I’ve also got to sacks of chunks for two batches of future soup. It was a sticky, messy evolution, but I’m done, so yay.
Gonna go knit now. After I go check the mail. It’s above freezing, just barely, so a wee bit of snow is melting. C’mon spring!!!
My MiL was supposed to drive down today, but is snowed in. This is sad. Mahna Mahna is having a party today, and MiL’s snow problems mean we can go visit and eat yummy, yummy food. This is good. Muppet and her guy are amazing cooks, and have promised booze.
Computer Boy gave Culinary Boy a new hard drive for Christmas. This had better be the last damn tweak to this computer. I’m tired of having to put everything back the way it was.
Thanks for sharing the video, GT - that was pretty cool; I’d never seen an iband before, believe it or not! Yum on Swampy cookies - and I gotta wonder if maybe, just maybe, OYKW might not like being chased with the spatula just a wee bit? Have a great time at the party, LiLi, and tell Muppet howdy and Happy Holidays!!
I’m thinking of baking some cookies today myself although it’s a tad late in the day now. Probably will do it tomorrow morning. I’ll take some in to work on Monday, I think. Got the fixings for tollhouse cookies, with walnuts in some, and sugar cookies that will be decorated. And now that I can see well enough to bake and cook again, I think I can enjoy it.
VWife has decreed tomorrow is the day I make cookie dough for her, since her shoulders are FUBARed. I believe that while I’m at it, I’ll try Mooooooooooom’s oatmeal cookies with Splenda instead of sugar.
Got slammed last night on bambilance duty. If it’s my last one, it was a doozy…
Herbs OYKW fears, fears I say, the hard plastic spatula of doom. I slapped his hand with it once and it hurt. Thus it is only used in extreme circumstances such as extreme cookie snarfin’.
Speakin’ of cookie snarfin’, betwixt cookies and microwave popcorn we have spoilt our appetites for dindin. Just like our mothers always warned us. We are bad boys. Seriously, neither one of us wants real food cause we snacked on popcorn and cookies for a while this afternoon. If our mothers were here we would both be facin’ the spatula of doom for this.
Then again, we’re adults so if’n we want to spoil our appetites with popcorn and cookies we can. So There! Of course, it’s still shameful. Shame, shame, shame on us!
