The Incredible, Redible tale of Beckdawreck

Skimlinks is one of those sites that turns all links into affiliate links. It’s detecting her typo as a link. Apparently it caches the page where it parses the link.

However, I don’t see links here turned into affiliate links, and it’s only in one theme. So I suspect the code was included in Sultantheme but not completely turned on. Still, it is partially being parsed.

To test my theory, I’m going to make a similar typo and edit it, albeit, in a more link-like way:

I like watching kittens compete for attention.

Hmm. Doesn’t seem to hit the same caching error, but, when I wrote kittens.com, it definitely became a “skimlink” class.

Only those pure of heart can see the original text.

Blessed Be the Text-Seers

Ho-ly crap.
That’sredible!

Hold me closer, klutzy dancer.

My Chrome PC shows the latest update.
Could this be a simple case of the data not being passed among various ISPs in a timely fashion?
Am I being whooshed?

Well, the (probably) relevant bits of the original post appear to be the use of a quote, and then some text that goes job. That’s redible

oooh - interesting! That one is without an edit, just the word “That’s” and then “redible” which has now been shortened to “That’sible”

Note the lack of space between the full stop after “job” and the next word. I think that’s redib…uuuuh relevant

Does seem to need a quote box

job.That’s incredible

I think I was wrong about the quote box.

Look at the following sentences

bob.who’s all gone

bob. who’s all gone

In my writing, the only difference between the two is that there’s a space after the period. But I think if you’re viewing the whole thread in sultanstheme, the word “all” in the first sentence will be … all gone.

I think you need the apostrophe close to the period for it to work

bob.whichever’s all gone

bob. whichever’s all gone

those two seem to be coming through correctly

That’sderstandable. Totally.

ETA, I can’t not do it.

I’m using sultanstheme and no words are missing for me (iOS Safari).

I’m on Win10 Chrome

Other places where I see it (all with sultantheme)

Win10 Firefox, Edge: Yes
Mac Desktop Firefox, Safari: Yes
iPhone with iOS 11, Safari: Yes
Very old iPad with iOS 9, Safari: No

ETA: BTW, I kinda dig QA - can you tell?

On OSX/Firefox, I’m not seeing this effect: The original post says “That’s incredible”, and I don’t think I’m seeing it with any of the tests in this thread (though some of them, I’m not certain what was actually typed.

You can only see it on Sultantheme and with adblock turned off.

Like I said upthread, it seems to be connected to the SultanTheme and some ad provider that is only partly turned on.

If I had to guess, I’d think that in that specific situation “in” or maybe " in" is acting as an “escape character” for </span>.

Does it do it every time you put “in” somewhere, or just with the word “incredible”?

It’s not “in”, it’s “inc”. As in, “incorporated”? It’s interpreting that as a business name, maybe, and then trying to insert a link to that business?
