The Insane Clown Posse "Miracles" - Magnetic motherf***king mysteries!

I’ve always kinda liked “rainbows and stuff”… mostly because I find the whole kittens and ranbows personality type irritating, it always cheers me up to imagine that playing in the background. And of course “Santa Claus is a fat bitch” is on my Bah Humbug playlist.

shrug

It’s called “The gathering of the Juggalos.” I only remember that because of how idiotic it all is.

We were robbed by Juggalos. Just sayin’.

As far as I’m aware they’re a force unto themselves. It’s just like any fandom, except ICP seems to attract the chaotic and anarchic.

Oh, come on, This would have happened to Tila Tequila if she had gone on the stage to rap at any hardcore rap concert… She would of been lucky, not to get worse, at any other hardcore gangsta event in an inner city.

As far as I can see, she’s just gettin’ and makin’ a livin’ off of what she has always sought. Media Hype and attention. She exists for no other reason than to satisfy your media God… seems like just another sensationalist sacrifice to The !E God.

It’s even customary at these ICP concerts for the audience to get pelted, in kind. ICP gets Faygo Bombed all the time, acts get pelted at these gatherings it’s contractual, and usually they all give as well as they get… no worse than gettin’ spit on at a Gob a Gob a Hey Punk Rock Fest.

I hadn’t heard about the ICP or Juggaloes before this incident, so I find the whole thing fascinating. I mean, a surgically-enhanced part-Asian internet “celebrity” being attacked onstage by a horde of rednecks in clown makeup? That’s straight out of an early William Gibson novel.

Hmmm…:dubious:

The way I see it, it’s either:
A) ICP is a genius act of satire which some people really “get” and enjoy; some people don’t “get” and enjoy for face value thereby embracing the opposite message being sent; and which most sane people despise as trash.

or B) ICP is good-hearted (it’s all explicitly anti-hate, anti-racist) but not deeply thought-out rage against injustice as seen by a couple two-bit rappers; which most people dismiss as trash, some people take at face value, and othr people read intricate messages into the way others read the future in tea leaves.

Actually, I lean more towards option A. But then again, I’m crazy and given to seeing things that aren’t real so…but I still need to stick with A. I love ICP, but juggalos frighten me almost as much as christians.

In my days administrating a gaming website, many of our most serious cyber attackers had Juggalo- or Insane Clown Posse-themed usernames. I didn’t know anything about the group (and didn’t connect “Juggalo” and “Insane Clown Posse” with each other, either) but eventually treated any appearance of the terms as a warning flag that a bad person with ill intent was trying to hurt us.

I suppose it may be all in fun somewhere, but I have such a bad taste in my mouth from all the late nights spent struggling against hackers, malware purveyors, soreheads, and lying, mean-spirited losers with Juggalo or ICP identifiers that it’s hard for me to consider them harmless.

That original video is the funniest fucking thing I’ve seen in ages.

Joe

ICP is absolutely horrible and just about every one of their fans (I refuse to type or say the J-word its so freaking stupid) I’ve met has been utterly, douchetastically inane and trashy. God I can’t stand them.

That freaking video sure is hilarious though.

Really interesting article about ICP.

I was on the fence about posting this and asking for opinions on whether it’s Poe’s Law at work, and in which direction. Despite reading the whole article I can NOT tell if they’re serious or taking the piss.

I considered Poe’s law too. Is it possible that they *stumbled in *to Poe’s Law?

In other words, maybe they were serious at first…got roundly mocked online and in the media…appreciated the attention, but not the mockery…tried to change up and pretend that they are in on the joke. Possible?

You may have a point there. I recently read an interview of Violent J at the AV Club and it seemed to bounce a bit between “self efaciating, I get it” kind of stuff to more serious “Well they just don’t understand us.” Mostly he seemed like he was in on the joke, but then there’s be a comment along the lines of “Our music has always been deep.” Really? The rapping clown has deep, meaningful lyrics.

I’m not a fan of their music, but I did buy Stranglemania quite a while ago. I thought their commentary was pretty funny, but I still couldn’t take them seriously. They seemed to be in on the joke on the video.

And assuming they ARE in on the joke, are the fans in on it? And if the fans aren’t, do the ICP know that? And if they know that and don’t care, isn’t that just about the most morally bankrupt shit you can even imagine??

I guess you just either get it or you don’t with ICP. If you’ve paid even passing attention to their career, them coming out as Christians was about as shocking as Rosie O’Donnell coming out as a lesbian. And of course most of what they say is a joke. Their attitudes are a joke. Their image is a joke. Don’t be ridiculous.

I am absolutely not saying that they are geniuses, or anything to that extreme, but I do think that they’re the type of artists that will get a lot more respect when people look back on their career, after it’s all said and done. They won’t be making any “worst band” lists in 30 years; people will look back and go “they were unique, enigmatic, and pretty goddamn funny.”

ICP snobbery is so funny.

I get ICP just fine, which is why I considered the possibility they were joking in the first place.
